Default Dr Perimutter "Grain Brain"

I think forum members would find this interview of Dr Perimutter very interesting. His new book "Grain Brain" should be required reading at all med schools.

He is selling a book for certain. He does reference his work/thoughts with past studies. Dr Wahls author of "Minding My Mitochondria" followed this type of lifestyle to put her MS into remission. In the war against PD what's the down fall for eating low (good carbs) high (good fat) good protein lifestyle for 30 days or so. Maybe drop a few pounds and a few inches. Just throwing it out there.

Default no concrete rules -just patterns, cycles, segments

For me the question is: How can I harmonize with the cycles .....my circadian rythyms, moon cycles, hormonal cycles, seasonal cycles, galactic cycles(yes I count myself a part of that too) even. It just seems that what is true in terms of what heals and balances me changes! Having said that...some things may help long term as some things may be harmful longterm . Isn't everything ~ r e l a t i v e?

I've been for the most part going without bread and noticing the tire round my waist dissolve. My gut health seems better. Having said this, I also wonder whether my body is missing the B vitamins and others this food source provides. sooo- as the saying goes am proceeding with moderation.

Are there truly any hard and fast rules? The only one I know of is that there will be CHANGE ! (Thank the heavens for that!)

It seems that the quest for a singular "cure" is more an attempt to freeze frame our lives-ain't gonna happen.

I'm certainly support a healthy diet but that's not what your post was primarily about imho. If it was I wouldn't have responded.
I offered another opinion on perlmutters's book and your statement that it should be required reading in medical school. I agree medical schools should require more nutritional education of doctors but i think banning supersize portions would have a much greater impact on our health as would changing our healthcare system from fee for service to outcome based in addition to nutrition education, dr's/pharmacists need incentives to keep us healthy, not treat chronic illnesses.

Not sure if dairy farmers have a higher incidence of neurological diseases, they sure eat a lot of dairy products.

I became a little skeptical of perlmutter after his I.V. gluathione therapy was proven to be no more effective than placebo in a double blind clinical study at the university of S. florida by dr. hauser. That was only 1 study, maybe it's conclusions were wrong but HAUSER was able to get funding for it, PERLMUTTER never did a placebo controlled study. Just my opinion of PERLMUTTER, he's a very entertaining speaker who does a great job of promoting himself.
I listened to the audio presentation, amazed PERLMUTTER bashed orange juice. Well, not exactly all orange juice, just a big glass of it as having too much sugar. I like oranges. OK, just being silly, sorry.
