Just wonder any one of you heard of or tried any alternate therapies like Bowen therapy, aqua hydration, flower essences? There is one Aussie guy - "John Coleman" who claimed to have recovered from PD after receiving hybrid therapies... http://www.returntostillness.com.au/

Ling, interesting that you mention Bowen Therapy and John Coleman. I was going to pose this question to see if anyone else had heard of him/it. I e-mailed John Coleman last November and got a reply back in January this year. Unfortunately, I have yet to respond to him so I will have to send him my original email him. My husband, Rich is the PWP and with so much going on with him, I am overwhelmed and just did not take the time to reply. John Coleman attached a 9-page questionnaire, consultation/fees and his thoughts on how to help Rich. I explained the years of constant prostate infections and the constant use of antibiotics to treat these infections, including an IV treatment in May '05, paranoia, depression, anxiety, & Rich's heart attack in '03, etc. John said that Rich's consistent prostate infections were a warning from his body that a severe systemic disease was developing, and that, such sever treatment had exacerbated a generalized degeneration that resulted in physiological changes shown as anxiety and PD. I am giving you all of this information so it may help you to decide what you may want to do yourself. I am finally going to complete the questionnaire and send it back to John. At this point, what do we have to lose? He said he would like to work with our doctors if they were willing to work with him. I think I know the answer to that one, don't you? How many doctors are going to take this stuff seriously? Doctors here will probably say it's not safe to us homeopathics and flowere essences, herbal mixes, etc with the drugs already being used. Well, let me know your thoughts. Take care, Maureen

Dear Ling and Maureen,
I've heard much advertising here in Australia from Coleman. Buy the book, attend the course, go to the lecture etc etc. He claims to have had MSA which as you probably know is one of the parkinson plus syndromes, and to have been cured of it. At the risk of having my head bitten off here I've got to say I think he's a money making liar preying on PWP and I have no time for him. Regards, Lee |

Thanks for your opinion. I agree with you, he probably is not being truthful. I can't imagine faking an awful illness to make money off of people who are honestly sick themselves and, of course, vulnerable to these types of creeps.
You summed up what I had in the back of my mind, but still was thinking of giving it a go because of my own vulnerability and desire to help my husband. Take care, Maureen |

Thanks for both Maureen and Lee. In fact, I have taken some time to read his homepage and my first impression is that the content and the description of the disease/ treatment are too brief. I am also a bit skeptical and have yet to make up my mind!

My best friend is married to John Coleman and there can't be a more sincere and dedicated ND out there. He did cure himself of Parkinson and if his web page looks like he wants to make money, that is your interpretation. Wouldn't you want to sell your book if you wrote one and it had important information to help people regain their health? As far as the supplements are concerned, they are of top quality and this regiment worked for him. So if you had similar supplements that you could get somewhere else, I am sure he would still want to work with you and help you get well, because as health practitioners, that is our goal. I am a Bowen practitioner myself and believe in the power of this therapy. It alone can't fix everything but together with other natural therapies it is very effective for just about every condition out there. Good luck in the future and please don't just think something is a scam until you have learned more. In good health,
Gabriele, certified Bowen practitioner in CA. |

Six sessions of Bowen therapy did nothing for me except give me a sore neck, probably because the practitioner had not bothered to invest in a proper treatment table so that I had to lie on my stomach with my neck turned to the side in an uncomfortable position. The aqua therapy drops that I used at the same time made me ache. I could turn the aching on and off depending on whether I took them or not - wanted to be sure that that's what was causing it so tried a few times. I really wanted this to work but it didn't.

he tells you to take a homeopathic remedy which has no regulation, you drop dead of a heart attack due to natural causes and you might sue the dr. what dr. will take that risk?? would you jeopardize your career, family, your other patients? people won't even babysit because of the potential liability and you expect doctors to be saints? if it worked we would know it, it's that simple. the brain is designed to not be easily changed otherwise it would outgrow your skull and be continually out of balance. think about it. |
