i was doing well on the mylan product and then my pharmacy couldn't get it.
got Apodespan PR 50/200 mg Prolonged-release Tablets instead, pink and have L200 on it and don't seem as effective. |

Mine are by Accord Healthcare 50/200 ER and are oval, peach colored and have L200 on them. It's what I started on so don't have anything to compare to. They were supposed to help me sleep longer at night, but I still have some nights where I only get a couple of hours sleep. I usually wake up at 3 or 4 am and then take a nap around 7 or 9 am.

My latest 50/200CR refill was the peach-colored oblong tablets with L200 imprinted. The local CVS pharmacy label showed "MFR: ACCORD HEALTHCA". Previously, the prescription was filled with the blue Mylan tablets.
I'm not sure about the relative effectiveness of the two preparations, but I have had to increase dosage from 4 each day to 5 in order to maintain a dependable "on" state since the color change. I attributed it to progression of my symptoms, whereas it may actually be due to alterations in composition of the medication. I will ask my pharmacist about going back to the Mylan product. Robert |

thanks robert,
i emailed mylan last week, waiting for an answer. i posted a question on "ASK THE PHARMACIST" on the NPA website if mylan was still available. i'll let you know what they say. if a 25/100 exists will try to get my neuro to give me an RX for that size and see how (2) 25/100 works or even 1.5 tabs works. every mg counts with us old codgers! cost may be a factor, the mylan drug was quite a bit more money, my pharmacist used to be one of my pharmacy computer customers so gives me their pharmacy direct costs. seems fewer generic mfg's of sinemet, must be more money to be made on other drugs. ironic how we all are focused on new meds and research yet the most significant affect on our pd might be having good CR generics. controlled release are the most difficult drugs to copy from what i understand and i don't think they have to be tested on people with pd, just have to make sure l-dopa blood levels are comparable. |

I always ask for TEVA but admittedly haven't tried other brands. I'm a broken record but always recommend you have an extra few weeks supply on hand of C/L in case there's a supply chain disruption. |

[QUOTE=soccertese;1074681]NAN, what is NDC on the RX vial? it's the number with the format 4-2-2 or 5-2-2, or 5-3-2 for example 16729-079-01.

Luv to see how much active ingredient is in there consistently.

Is anyone taking sinemet ER or CR (is there a difference?) during the day instead of regular sinemet or stalevo? How much good time do you get with er/cr compared to regular sinemet? It is my understanding that regular sinemet has a half life of 1 hr, stalevo 2 hrs and the er's 4 hrs? (if you don't eat).
My wife takes one or two 100/25 er during the night and 4 stalevo 75mg, 4 stalevo 100mg during the day. That's about 900mg of l-dopa a day. Her neuro does not want her to exceed more than 800mg/day and to take only one er at bedtime. My wife has a lot of off time swings and tends to have bad, disturbing hallucinations into the evening. Stalevo is probably a contributor to the psychosis. Does it make sense to replace the stalevo with sinemet ER? Or, what is the down side to ER/CR? |
