Hi
My stimulator was turned on after surgery in about 3 weeks. My first programing was in early August. I immediately was able to walk. My neuro stopped the comtan. My second programing was in early September, The carbo/leva was reduced from 21 25/100 to 14. My CR was reduced to 2 from 3 About a week ago I started shouting in my sleep and falling out of bed. I am concerned that I may hurt myself . Has anyone had a similar experience? Thank you for your replys Damon |

Have you reached out to update your movement disorders specialist or the neurosurgeon about this latest change?

My brother and my friend both have had bad dreams, with screaming and falling out of bed and they never had DBS, just PD. My brother was on a horrific amount of meds and my friend is just using fava and mucuna for l-dopa supplementation....so it is not necessarily the DBS. My daughter talks alot in her sleep and has jumped out of bed dreaming...may be just a physical make up (may be that dreams that are very vivid for some people) I rarely have dreams that I even remember unless awakened during them.

i did a sleep exam and was diagnosed with REM DISORDER SLEEP, moving around while sleeping. dr. prescribed 0.5mg clonazepam but recommended i start with .25mg just to be safe or maybe just to make me more willing to try it. the drug is supposed to stop the moving around - during the sleep study i had some brief movement but didn't wake up, and possibly make me feel more rested. the .25mg had no affect, the .5mg made me a little drowsy after waking so the jury is out.
2mg seems high based on my reading of message boards of pd'ers taking it for REM SLEEP, seems .5mg is what everyone takes. i'm not a healthcare professional. |

Thank you for the replys
Yes, there a name for this and it can occur in anyone with PD. My Neuro told me what the name is but I cant recall I just remember it being long. I have taken 6mg of clonazapam for the last year and have been on it for 13 years. Started out as 1/2mg twice a day. Thus there is a tolerance. It scares me as I am aware of the horrible withdrawal symptoms even if the dose is lowered by .5mg. Taking 2mg at bedtime seems to work. On another note, I am amazed how the DBS has given me my life back. I was in a wheelchair with off time most of the day. I am going to the gym again. My carbo/leva has been reduced to 14 from 21 tablets 25/100 and the CR from 3 50/200 to 2 per day. My next adjustment is on 10/22. Thank you Damon |
