I'm still pretty much tremor free although stress will start minor tremors and I take a 1/2 tab of LevoCarb and remove my self from the situation for a while. The combo of my med has worked well for me and given me back a large portion of my life. I still have symptoms of the disease such as slow speech, tired body, broken sleep. Best of all is the "Drooling". Some times I drool like a dog at a MacDonald's dumpster but if that's the worst thing I suffer, well, so be it. The mirtazapine seems to be selective on who it works for but it has done well for me and I wish for success for those who try it. Also I have not encountered any apparent side effects (yet). I hope for the best for all of us.

Thanks for your posts. Can you advise us if the MIRTAZAPINE continued to keep your tremors at bay or did the beneficial effects on the tremor reduce or fail over a certain time period. I am D/X four years and take Sinemet Plus 4 per day; Mirapexin 0.088; 3 per day. I am unable to control my left side tremors which get worse if I increase the Sinemet above 400mg per day. Arsene |

I have tremors on my hand and now it starts to my leg, I mentione it to the Neuro he looks at me in smiling, I asked if he 's sadistic?? I start Mirtazapine but I can't tolerate it, It gave me dizziness and sleeping a lot, the whole day, and i start again with half a pill, again the same effect. I stop it now. |

Thanks for your posts on Mirtazapine. I have constant tremor left side and would like to ask if the Mirtazapine is still working for you; what side effects it causes; how long you have had PD and if you suffer daytime drowsiness from any of your meds. Best Wishes, Arsene |

I was diagnosed in 2005 although I suspected back in 1996/97,that I had PD because a tremor had developed in my right hand. Too much LevoCarb put me into the spasms that just about brought about my end but an eceptional nurse in the hospital working in conjunction with my Md & N'gist found that body temp was critical with me & spasms/tremors. The hotter I was, the more prevelant were the tremors and I would get agitated/frustrated. To off set those feelings, they gave me a mild sedative which eventually led to the trial with Mirtazapine along with a routine that would keep my body cool. Based on my experience, I would advise the PWP to work closely with their medical team and follow their advice but do not have any unrealistic expectations from changes in meds or treatment. We're in this for the long haul so if you find something that works for you or makes your life a bit easier, stick with it and count your blessings. Good luck to us all. HarryM.

I recently tried this starting with one half of a 15mg Miratazapine tablet. It certainly reduced the strong tremors from day one. The downside for me was that I became "drugged" for the following day to the extent that my wife advised I looked stoned all day and became withdrawn and vacant. I reduced my Mirtazapine intake to a quarter of a 15mg tablet per night and still slept for 12 hours and felt stoned the day after. It appears that I am sensitive to most meds but this Mirtazapine really knocks me over. However it is the only med that has reduced my intense shaking so I will continue with caution. Also the Mirtazapine has improved my mood. My regular meds are Sinemet Plus at 4 per day and Mirapexin 0.018 at 4 per day. I am 64 with PD for 4 years. Arsene |

Stress can & will start tremors with me but I take a sedative (Ativan)and go sit down for 20 minutes , then its back to no tremors. If this was the worst I was going to be, Great , Bring it on.. Mornings are the worst for me, just general feeling crappy but by noon I'm feeling pretty good.
