It states that target completion date of safety trials was June 2009 - so either it over ran or results should be imminent!

Results can take an eon to surface - data has to be analyzed, articles written, submitted to peer reviewed journals, reviewed by peers - who will have questions and want changes, and the finally the results slotted for publication some months ahead. Or the researchers could just jump ahead and say something about "promising" and will be planning next phase of clinical trials....all of this on a drug recognized as safe in another use! It's agonizing. But if they were to go too fast and overlook some safety issue, the lawsuits could be massive.

Last year I mentioned to my mother's cardiologist that I was taking Isradipine for PD. He thought it was interesting and then told me Isradipine is very safe. I have had no problems on it - 2.5 years & counting.

I'm very glad to hear you are getting along well with the med. Did you have high blood pressure to start with? How about with the Parkinson's? Does it seem to be helping? Holding off disease progression? Please give a report! (my apologies if you recently did this - my brain resembles swiss cheese these days!)

Yes i have high blood pressure - which is why my MDS agreed to prescribe it for me.

Yep - have PD - diagnosed January 2003

Is it helping? No idea - but my progression seems to be slow. Maybe it's a factor - i hope so anyway. i see my doctor in weeks and I'll ask her what she thinks.

Sasha, I just wrote to Dr Surmeir to tell him my story. The fact that I have had SPECT brain scans in 2003-05-07-09 may be of interest to him. I know that my data is only anecdotal, but the long term info on me documented by 4 brain scans may be helpful to him in some way.
