Default Rytary Pricing

I saw this pricing chart for Rytary from my insurance company this morning. It assumes 3 doses/day. Of course, everyone's insurance reimbursement will be different, but I listed the List Price and what it would cost me for a 90 day supply.

23.75/95mg ........... $551 ............. $140
36.25/145mg..... .....$551 ..............$140
48.75/195mg ...........$551..............$140

61.25/245mg............$693............. $140

It is definitely less than originally anticipated ($6/day vs proposed $10/day). I just went onto Prime Therapeutics' mail order site and those are the rates they show.

Default Insurance Coverage Tier

If you've filled a prescription, please post what coverage tier your insurance company used. My company is Cigna and I can't get an answer from them without my drug store filing a claim, which it won't do without a prescription.

Thanks for your help.

Horizon BC/BS
It's Tier 3
I haven't actually filled a prescription as I don't need this drug. However, Horizon uses MyPrime for its drug mail order and it's all done online so I can process an order to see the cost (it will not go thru without the prescription, obviously). In addition, everyone's plan will have different coverage. There are many doses for Rytary, so I used an example that you can see below. This is copied from the drug processing site.

Rytary
36.25-145MG Capsule Extended Release / 3 per day / 90 day

Total Cost: $ 551

Plan Paid: -$ 411

Your Cost: $ 140

Generic: Generic equivalent not available

Covered, Tier 3

Isn't the dosing 3 capsules, 3 times per day?

As with C/L, the dosing will end up being somewhat different for each person. However, if you are asking me if the dosing is 3 capsules for each dose, 3 times per day, then the answer is absolutely not. The starting dose is normally 3 capsules total per day. One capsule for each dose. You can eventually go up to 5 doses per day (1 capsule 5 times per day). To increase strength you would take higher mg doses, but not increase the frequency.

eds195, I apologize, you are correct. The dosing CAN go as high as 3 pills per dose. The information I reported above would be the recommended starting doses for the drug which can be increased over time. Sorry.

Default Rytary Pricing

No problem. I have a script for 810 capsules which is 3x3 per day at the lower 95 dose for a 3 month period. I can't see how my insurance will approve such a high volume. Going to call them today. Getting more confused here.
