Default POLL: How many smoke cigarettes - How many Don't

Okay lets unofficially see how many here smoke or use any kind of tobacco on a regular basis. Nicotine has shown again and again to be NEUROPROTECTIVE.

I smoked briefly when I was young and for 10 years worked in the office with three women who were chain smoking (2 -3 pack a day). One of them died of lung cancer when she was only in her forties.

Never smoked. Smoking killed both my parents.

It will be interesting to see the risk profile of various tobacco based formulations. Are there any circumstances in which the benefits of smoking (e.g. a likely reduced risk of PD) outweigh the dangers? I suspect not. But hopefully patches, etc., offer the best of both worlds.

My mother let me take a "puff" of her friend's cigarette when I was 6. I almost choked to death. Never again.
My father in law smoked most of his life and lived with a smoker. His brother had PD. My father in law got ET in his late 80's. I think his smoking protected him. He did die of heart disease at 91.

Yes I am two years. I had PD prior to starting. So I voted no? Not very scientific pole!
