Not sure what happened to the link but you can search for "folic acid and parkinson's disease" to find the study.

Thanks for this link. I am surprised I never saw this before. Sometimes you just miss stuff.
Also I did some reading on folate and it doesn't cross the blood brain barrier till your body processes it into L-methylfolate .. but the good news is that L-methylfolate, while it might not be easy to find in a store, it is easy to find via the Internet. It does cross the BBB. I have mine on the way. |

Make sure it says L 5 methylfolate or else it's probably the cheap R form, no good for our purposes. Chirality matters. See http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chirality_(chemistry)

I think you might mean micrograms, abbreviated as mcg. Not trying to rag on you, just want to make sure people search for the right stuff.

Thanks for this posting BlackFeather!
It has only been 4 days but I could tell my tremors are decreasing from methylfolate (B9). I'm not sure I felt much more than reduced tremor except to say that I felt "smoother". This morning I tested for tremor (just holding my hands out looking for tremor) and I couldn't believe it .. zero tremor at first. I have had this little tremor thing for like a decade or more and it's getting under control! I've been taking 3 mg a day, spread thru the day. Next, I'm gonna step up to 5 mg and see how it goes. |
