Default Where can I find high quality bulk Mucuna?

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to find a Mucuna product I can trust as far as purity and potency? I take about 6g of Mucuna 40% every three hours, 6 times a day, every day (Hinz Protocol). Yes, that's right. It's actually 37g total each day which equals about 14.8g of L-Dopa a day, amongst other amino acids. You can surely understand my concern about consuming heavy metals and other contaminants. I also need to be sure the potency is what they say it is. This protocol is very dose-dependent. I can't be using something that's inconsistent or higher or lower in potency than what they are advertising. This is exactly why the doctors that developed this protocol started producing their own supplements. They found that the success of their program was being undermined by the inconsistent potency and quality of the supplements their patients were buying on their own. I'm sure that some of you believe that this entire protocol was developed just to sell and profit from supplement sales. I'm all for profits, but all I can tell you, is that this protocol works. No one said being a pioneer would be easy.
Again, any help in finding a source for good quality bulk Mucuna would be greatly appreciated.

Hi... I am also looking for new source of l-dopa/Mucuna 40% powder... as the cost through chk/via my ND has become cost prohibitive... $600-$800 per month.
I have been using the Hinz protocol now for about 6 years... and yes it does work, as long as you have consistent product and consistent in dosing. Makes life manageable ...does not cure you and I still have break through tremors and other side effects/muscle related.
It does have drawbacks... food seems to affect it's effectiveness... at least it does for me. Everyone is different... But, overall it has been the most effective treatment for me with the least side effects.
Glad to know that this treatment is working for others too!

Anyway... any help in finding a new source for the Mucuna / L-dopa 40% at a lower cost would be really helpful!

Thanks...

Hi Parkygirl, Could you tell me if you have remained stable on the same dosing for the last 6 years? 2nd question: Have a noticed the progression in your PD? 3rd question: How does L-Tyrosine effect your dosing on/off's?

Default Response to badboy99 / re:Hinz protocol

Morning....
Answer to your first question and 2nd question... Stable and progression of symptoms!? On this program you are supposed to eventually find what they call a sweet spot. Meaning that all symptoms are controlled when you reach your proper dosage. I never found that sweet spot, per se... all symptoms have never been controlled, totally... but I have found what I call tolerable symptoms... which allow me to function in what is now my normal life...with PD. With regard to dosage... I just recently went through a bad spell .... protocol seemed to stop working ... I had to increase Mucuna and tyrosine.. this took several months for me to find the proper combination and was very difficult... I had some of my worst symptoms that I have ever had... but am thankful that I am now back in my tolerable place. As far as progression of symptoms... yes, I would say that it slowed progression down considerably. Symptoms started 11 years ago in my left hand...then progressed fairly quickly to include left arm and leg. When I started Hinz protocol 6 years ago... I was just starting to feel some tremors in right arm...it never progressed further. But with that said, when I am under stress my right arm, hand and leg do tremor... but I have never felt weakness or loss of strength on the right side of my body like I have on my left.
Final question... Tyrosine. What does it do? It seems to extend the life of the Mucuna... with that said... I hope that this helps you to get a better picture of how this works... we are all different and each of us can experience different things... so what works for me, may or may not work for someone else....

Default Hinz protocol -Can you use stronger Mucuna adapting it to Hinz protocol?

As you can see by the hour of this post... I am not sleeping.
Trying to figure out how to use a different stronger source of Mucuna is causing some stress!
I am trying to figure out correct dosing so I don't cause a flare up of my symptoms. I don't know if that is possible or not? But need to give it a try!

I found another source for Mucuna Powder...Now the question is can I use it and make it work for me... it is not the same strength as what I have been using... it is actually stronger. Been using 40% powder 600mg per 1/4 tsp. The new Mucuna is 100% powder with 500mg per serving which is 1/8 of scoop.(not quite the same size as tsp)
Thought that I would just have to reduce my dosage by 60%...but am a little confused because of the l-dopa dosage being different.
If your familiar with the Hinz protocol...I could use some help from anyone out there who has knowledge of the protocol and has a good knowledge of math or calculating this for me/with me....Hinz protocol is based on consistency of product and correct dosage so figuring out the correct dosage is imperative to success using new product that is stronger.

Thanks for your help on this....

Sister, Sometimes when you Email the people that are supplying you with your new source of mucuna. Tell them you want to order mucuna in bulk. (KG) Kilograms @ 40% L-Dopa. They often can get a quote from their suppliers and order it for you at a reasonable price.

Swanson's Health products has a mucuna capsule that I order for my friend...seems to do well on it. Glad to here that you are doing well. I don't do meds either and most people do not know I have PD unless I tell them. Yes, stress can bring on symptoms, but I try to keep from stressful situations. I have been making tincture for 5 1/2 years now from fava plant that controls my symptoms. Foods are so important (especially papaya, sweet potatoes, beans, pumpkins, blueberries. egg plant, peppers and tomatoes for my well being in my journey) also lots of sunshine and exercise/ music/ dancing / friends and family and my church family . God is so good to provide for all my needs and give guidance in what to eat to stay well. God bless and guide you" NO MEDS NOW"...may you stay med free forever!! I hope to. Aunt Bean
