Default MitoQ fails in PD

MitoQ is a mitochondrial targeted form of CoQ10 that is up to 1000x more potent than regular ubiquinol. In this study it failed to halt the progression of PD.

Scientists said it was either because subjects were either too far gone or oxidation is not the problem in PD.

I stopped taking COQ10 years ago as I doubted that it was doing anything.

Disappointing but not surprising. Just another clinical research failure for a supplement and anti-oxidant cure. Puts some damper on all of the anecdotal claims.

That was a pretty aggressive study too .. either 40 or 80 mg doses for a year. The std dose is 5 mg, and they had lots of side effects at those high dosages.

When I tried it in January to mid Feb, (5 mg a day, as directed) it worried me that when I stopped taking it, my shoulders hurt, and my wife's did too, whebn she stopped. Since then I have been trying CoQ10 with PQQ from Life Extension. After reading this study though, there really isn't much need to keep taking it, at least for PD. Cardiovascular, may be another story though.

Not saying the info isnt relevant but Gerry did you notice this report is over 7 yrs old - April 2008. Im curious as to whether it showed up in a recent news feed.

Sorry Dilmar. I didn't notice the date. It wasn't from a news feed.
