"In Group B, UPDRS increased in the ubiquinol-10 group (n = 14; 3.9 ± 8.0), as well as in the placebo group (n = 8; 5.1 ± 10.3)."

HUH?
those early pd'ers not on l-dopa got worse.

14 patients is an awfully small sample.

Ubiquinol is up to 8 times more bioactive it seems. So 300mg Ubiquinol should equal 2400mg CQ10.

whats your point? everyone got excited about 1200mg of coq10 and it was found to have no benefit. the lead researcher actually had ties to the company manufacturing the coq10 used in the study if i remember correctly.

people can take what they want but i think desperate people do desperate things and one should take this into account when encouraging them to buy supplements that aren't cheap and have not been proven to delay progression or improve symptoms. at least mention how strong the evidence is. few of us are scientists here but we know 1 study doesn't prove anything.

personally, i would contact the author of the paper and request a copy of the paper and analyze it before using it as an argument for the benefit of Ubiquinol

just my opinion.

Default Mega dose CoQ10

Initially, CoQ10 made an impressive positive impact on my husband's symptoms of PD. In retrospect, I think the fact he had taken atorvastatin (Lipitor) for 4 yrs accounted for his robust response. Statins interfere with the body's pathway to production of ubiquinol or CoQ10. So for those individuals who took/are taking statins, one might weigh the positives/negatives of supplementing. I have no idea if oral supplementation corrects the interference of production from statins to ubiquinol, though do not see how it could hurt--except for the $$.
