This is great news but if stem cells are good for the brain, why not put them into the brain intranasally? It seems so much easier!
A nasal spray delivery system for stem cells could help avoid problems related to surgical implantation of stem cells. This new method could also make repeated stem cell treatments much safer.

Such a great idea! It could be cheaper too.

Did you see they do not have government (such as a "FDA") involved? Mostly scientists, professors in Kyoto University's commission. However, the Japanese government did entire funding to the program, billions of dollars. I am not against FDA but, where there is government there is bureaucratic...easily. Now we see we are behind. Should we ever be behind?

Lets prey for its success!

Default After 3 Years: Kyoto Univ. performs world's 1st iPS cell transplant for Parkinson's

"By also cooperating with companies, we want to develop a mass production system that enables us to deliver nerve cells derived from iPS cells to all over the world," Jun Takahashi, a professor at the Japanese university's Center for iPS Cell Research and Application who led the research team, told a press conference.
