Default Berberine prevents nigrostriatal dopaminergic neuronal loss

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24535622

Berberine might be worth adding to the regimen.

They used it at a very high dosage (just my opinion). That dosage in human terms goes from 3 to 5 grams, depending on your weight, per day.

It's a very useful supplement for a wide variety of issues though so it may well be worth a try, but I'm sure I won't be mega dosing it, like the study did.

Here;s a good link on it ..

Acute administration of Berberine at 5mg/kg injections can raise neural dopamine by 31% in mice, which increased to 53% over 15 days of administration; no further increase was noted at 10mg/kg injections over 15 days though (31%).[82] Ingestion of 20mg/kg Berberine in mice failed to significantly modify dopamine in the striatum, frontal cortex, or hippocampus.[83]

I first heard about Berberine from a member of another group I'm a member of. She wanted to get off Metformin and found this alternative and last time I heard she was doing good with it. I'm thinking of trying it for a while as my glucose has been creeping up but A1c is good. I'll wait for this year's labs next month and go from there. Here is a lot of info on Berberine:

Any suggestions on a reputable brand of berberine? I've been looking for a supplement and haven't found one I feel confident taking.

I have no experience with Berberine yet, but I do like pureformulas products. Just found this one:

https://www.pureformulas.com/berberi...rapeutics.html

There are some positive reviews on this one too. I herb.com is another good company and you can look at their Berberine. Hope this helps.

Thank you. I ordered from Pure Formulas another supplement to add to the growing list.
