Default Constipation, use Chia seeds

My late mother died at 93 from PD in 2012.

She suffered from chronic constipation most of her life until 2006 when I started managing her food to make sure that she got enough protein without having it interfere with Sinemet.

Everyday at 5 she ate a large serving of high protein Greek yogurt with a heaping tablespoon of Chia seeds mixed in. By following this protocol she was able to meet her daily protein requirements and eliminate the need to take a stool softener and a laxative. No more constipation, no more straining, no more hemmoroids.

That's a great suggestion on several counts. I'm also continuing to have excellent results by drinking two cups of ginger/camomile tea each day. It would be good to get the extra calcium with the yogurt though.

YES! I have been dependent on a powdered magnesium supplement (Calm magnesium) that altho has worked well seems a bit invasive.

The chia seeds on yoghurt is delicious but even better making a gelatin with them (+lemonade or fruit juice) is truly delightful (and easy and quick :2 parts liquid 1 part seeds -let sit for 10 minutes) - guilt free jello!!!and has normalized my bowels in a very gentle manner. also I wonder of possible benefit for collagen from the gelatinous aspect. I'm SO impressed with these seeds! Nice to have a medicine that tastes good...

Thanks for this. My wife has battled constipation for over a decade and with just one application things were good for her. She will now be doing chia seeds on her yogurt every day!

After reading this, I bought a bag of chia seeds and just took 1T in a glass of water earlier today...it was nice and easy to drink. I have constipation under control pretty much with magnesium and vit C, higher doses on both, but the bag of chia reads: energy, endurance, strength and more and since I am feeling draggy today, thought I'd give it a go. Like it.
