There is also similar work going on in Europe. Eg Roger Barkers recent transplant work in Oxford UK though still not induced pluripotent stem cells yet.
I like this site for general info http://www.eurostemcell.org/about. The intro reads ... We're a partnership of more than 400 stem cell and regenerative medicine labs across Europe, connected via research centres, consortia, networks and hubs. Scientists, clinicians, ethicists, social scientists and science communicators are all part of the project.
