"Cuminaldehyde is a constituent of the essential oils of eucalyptus, myrrh, cassia, cumin and others ... It has been shown that cuminaldehyde, as a small molecule, inhibits the fibrillation of alpha-synuclein, ... which, if aggregated, forms insoluble fibrils in pathological conditions characterized by Lewy bodies, such as Parkinson's disease ..." So, now it is even more confusing because it says that cuminaldehyde is a constiuent...." of all those essential oils mixed together, or essential oils from any one of them? At any rate the turmeric plant came today in good condition, will plant tomorrow. I can only hope it graces me with lots of substances that untangle the mess! Be it cumin, curcumin, turmeric, etc. I wish I'd had more organic chemistry in college. Now at 70 years of age I hardly remember much of it at all! |
