Hello. I'm new to the board and glad to have found this great site. My 67 year old mother has PD and has had it for 27 years. She is due to have hip replacement surgery in the fall and I'm quite worried about recovery and what it may do to the PD. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with hip replacement and PD? Thanks.

My father had a hip replacement in his seventies, with PD. He recovered well and it didn't seem to affect his PD. They used a special operating room, like a sterile hood, to reduce the chance of infection, something they do routinely.
