I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago by THIRD neuro doc and he put me on Levidopa right away. The next wee I upped my dose and found myself nauseous on and off the first day then super nauseous the next day. Called dr and he said quit taking it for 3-4 days then start over with a little food with it each time. I don't wanna take it at all. I think it helped the first couple of days but then felt pretty lousy. I was in bed for TWO days. I am not doing well as my body is so weakened. It took a year to diagnose!!!!!

Why are you holding off. I start back on it today and am scared to death. I cannot afford to get any weaker and I feel like I got so much weaker over the weekend. I cannot exercise as it flares all my nerves!!!! Help!

Do try to exercise. It's the best medicine. I've been only on Azilect for 6 years. I'll probably start with agonists on my next visit to the neuro (already talked about it in the previous visit). But I'm absolutely convinced that every day exercise has contributed to slow progression. And I don't do anything too hard. 1 hour walking everyday (about 6Km) and pilates once a week.

I do not take prescription l- dopa, just what I get from fava beans. For some people this really works well and with no side effects. I grow my own, but they can be purchased in cans and as juice thru internet sources. God Bless and guide you ... Aunt Bean

Kate,
You can ask your neurologist or if he's hard to get your G.P. for a script of Domperidone. I think it has other names but you can't take Stemetil or Maxalon which are fairly standard for most people as it interferes with levodopa. The Domperidone will get rid of your nausea hopefully then you can take the levodopa without getting queasy and you can get moving again. The nausea should go soon but its horrible to have! Best wishes |
