Thanks Badboy and Ed,
At the time when I had electrodes implanted (12 yrs ago) a neighbouring hospital to the one that treated me was STILL doing the procedure by gauging the patients reaction and what the neurologist felt was improvement! i was horrified and find it so barbaric that people who underwent DBS there were at such an enormous risk. Some died from bleeds and one I met was made worse and went on to have the procedure redone at the hospital and with the surgeon I had with the correct imaging done during the placement of the electrodes to locate the best position with good results. This new Medtronic technology can only make it even more accurate thankfully! |
