On 6/1/11 a thread was posted by Trixedee. The thread was regarding a study of 31 PD patients. It indicated a study by the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
In summary the study was done on 31 PD Patients all deficient in B-2 Riboflavin which is common of PD patients. All 31 were given Riboflavin at 8 hour intervals and had to abstain from red meat. Results were "astounding". After 3 months motor function markedly improved. After 6 months motor capacity (Hoehn and Yahr Scale) increased from 44% to 71%. The patients reported better sleep at nite improved reasoning, higher motivation and reduced depression. Riboflavin level increased from 106 ng/ml to 179 after 1 month. Research concluded supplementation and red meat avoidance may be highly effective in halting and even reversing the progression of PD. Brazilian Journal of Medical & Biological Research Vol.36 Oct 2003 Pages 1409-17. I can understand why there is no follow up study, no money to be made by Pharma Co.. Does anyone have any additional knowledge or experience regarding this study. |
