Default Effect of sleep deprivation on cognition

In a another thread, a poster asks for suggestions on how to get more sleep, and I can understand his concerns.

Throughout my pre-Parkinson's life, any night I did not manage eight or more hours of sleep definitely affected my ability to think and to accomplish tasks. Therefore, it is no surprise to me that the fact that I now routinely sleep fewer than six hours each night could explain the cognitive fuzziness I often experience. I read a lot about cognitive deficits being part and parcel of Parkinson's, and I wonder why the chronic lack of sleep afflicting PWP is not considered as a cause of these deficits.

I have included this website which discusses sleep deprivation and its resulting effect or our ability to think.
