Thanks, Chris, I read that article, too. My neuros mentioned that they wished this particular approach would be better funded and studied. It makes you wonder, though, why nobody ever says what those side effects were that prompted scientists (or sponsors?) to abandon the project. Would we all get mad-pig's disease from it?

I'd risk mad pigs disease for a PD cure wouldn't you Teresa lol.
Well at least it's another spec on the horizon!! Cogane, Isradipine, Creatine, Spheramine and now CDNF. Lets hope one of these turns out to eventually be a winner. Keep us posted on your progress with Azilect please. My symptoms have worsened in the last couple of months and I am planning to discuss adding this to my daily meds rather than increasing my Levodopa intake, with my Neurologist. I have also been taking Amantadine for about two years but it makes my headaches more frequent and I know that it often has a relatively short span of effectiveness. The main stream Agonists make me seriously ill. Your post about your experience with Azilect was a very welcome piece of news. I am sure I read that there was also some speculation that Azilect may have some neuroprotective capability. But then I know I read far too much about PD and as they (who are they??) say "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing". Thanks Chris |

I don't know if I'd trade this for mad-pig's disease!
I tried all agonists and none worked sufficiently well to make their side effects worth while. I think they're mostly a rip-off. Having tried everything there is for PD, at this point I can say that what works best for me with the least side effects are levadopa (Sinemet in my case) and now, more than 13 years into PD, levadopa boosted with Azilect. |

If I could turn back the clock with regard to meds there's no way I would've taken agonists. Not enough is being done by the medical profession to warn PWP and their families of the personality changes associated with them. Regards, Lee |
