Hey everyone,
Hopefully a shorter post than normal. (Notice that I changed my mood to busy instead of amused)! I can only speak for myself, but I'm wondering if there is any way that the webmaster(s) could incorporate into the system (in every single post) the following: when that person was diagnosed how long they have had PD and (perhaps) their age I can only speak for myself, but I lose track of everyone and I don't know if I'm talking to a newbie or someone who has ten years experience. Both are needed, both are valuable to this system, but they also serve different things to different people in our walk with this dreadful disease. I'm truly open to suggestions ... would this be over the line? Is there any other helpful information that I'm missing? Two heads (let alone hundreds!) are better than one so please speak up!

Possibly better if that information were left for each particular member to display. The best place I can think of to display it is in the signature.
michael b. By the way, did you get your computer issues solved? |

Yep, I used to have that as a part of my personal profile in the old Braintalk Forum, together with my avatar, but I left it out in this one, because nobody else has it now.
I always thought it was a good idea to know exactly who we all are and what our situation is. |

Michael,
I agree with your statement that it's better left to the individual. I should have said as much. Not everyone is an open book like I am (I'd probably tell you the balance in my checkbook, let alone my measurements!) I would never, ever expect anyone to divulge something that they're not comfortable with. I think putting it with our signature may help, but the only problem that I foresee is that you would have to open that, particular, post before you knew if you were "talking" to a newbie, a seasoned Veteran, etc. BUT ... I am also not adverse to doing that. Hey everyone ... weigh in ... and let us know if this would help, hinder, or is simply not an issue with you. And, as for fixing my computer problems ... no ... I haven't yet done that, but each of you were helpful, helpful, helpful. My husband is a computer whiz. In fact, we have had 6 computers for years now, before it was even vogue to do so. I kept saying that our dog was going to get his for Christmas. We all have flat screens and the latest upgrade. Yes, we're spoiled. There is a method to his madness, however ... he buys and upgrades parts for his computer, and then passes the "old" stuff on down. The boys get it, first, then our daughter, and eventually me. It's not that I'm last on his list ... it's just that the kids are always clammoring for the latest and greatest and I could care less. In fact, he replaced my monitor with a flat screen, which is nice, but I also had no problems with the last one. My husband, and our 14 year old also have TWO monitors on their desks so that they can be working on one, and browsing on the other. Because of the above, it makes me 10 times more ignorant ... so when I can get answers from others, I'm thrilled!

Hello,
On the french mailing-list Coeruleus I have created two years ago, when the thread on requires reference to age, age for diagnosis, we are used to sign this way Anne 50/8 .............................. age and duration since diagnosis, or 50/8 (27)........................ same and (duration) since first symptom, or 50/8 (27) /DBS-STN 3 .......same as just above and duration since DBS-STN (DBS = deep-brain stimulation, STN = of sub-thalamic nucleus.) Hope this will help you, Anne 39 /8 (16 ) |

Why not just a short bio in which the writer tells a little about himself or herself? I am not sure that stating the year of dx and/or date of first systems is something insurance companies, whether health or life, need to know or be able to research. My reasoning is that no one can really pinpoint when PD started (it is a point on a continuum, but which point?) or when the dx is infallible. Many times the dx gets changed to something else. Something to think about.

I added the info - add it to your LOCATION in your CP, then it should display below your name & avatar.
