Top cyclists come to town to ride for Parkinson's research
DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT Summit County, CO Colorado August 2, 2007 http://www.summitdaily.com/article/2...ss02?fromrss=1 COPPER MOUNTAIN - Renowned Amercian cyclists Davis Phinney and Connie Carpenter will join thousands of other cyclists in an effort to fight against Parkinson's disease during the 2nd annual Copper Triangle, set for Saturday at Copper Mountain. The Colorado Cyclist Copper Triangle has long been considered one of Colorado's classic alpine road rides, and riders both recreational and competitive will be taking on the challenging 78-mile ride that crests Fremont, Tennessee and Vail passes. The ride will start and finish in Burning Stones Plaza in the heart of Copper. In 2000, famed rider Davis Phinney was diagnosed with Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease and is now active in the fight against the disease. Last year's inaugural ride of the Copper Triangle raised more than $32,000 for the Davis Phinney Foundation with a total of 2,176 cyclists from 35 states across the country. This year, organizers are striving to raise at least $100,000 in their fight against Parkinson's disease.
