I seem quite sensitive to the amount of ld I take. Unfortunately, my best dosage is 1 1/2 pills. How do you split pills? I have tried carefully by hand, with a knife and a pill splitting device. The splitter did the worst job, crushing part of the pill.I don't do well when there is much over or under on that 1/2 pill. TIA for suggestions.

My first thought is that there must be different quality pill cutters on the market!
I've been using my pill cutter (which I inherited from my mum) for more than 2 years. My Madopar 125 tablets are double scored. I take 3 quarters of a tablet, 6 times a day. I'm yet to have a malfunction. The brand name is Safety Shield Tablet Cutter. I just Googled it and it came up straight away. Perhaps it, or something equivalent, is also available where you live. |

You can "dissolve" levodopa/carbidopa pills in ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and draw off whatever fraction you want. This is also a way of getting a faster action. (Note, splitting is OK for immediate release, but not for extended release preparations).
While keeping the total daily dose constant, you can lower the dose, but increase the frequency. This has the added advantage of reducing the variation of drug levels. John
