What is going on with light therapy looks very strange to me.
First discussed on this forum in 2008

Helmet bathes the brain with infra-red light and stimulates the growth of brain cells

grant was funded in 2013

Near Infrared Chronic Intracranial Illumination for Neuroprotection in Parkinson's Disease | Parkinson's Disease

The results if this study was published in 2014:

Photobiomodulation inside the brain: a novel method of applying near-infrared light intracranially and its impact on dopaminergic cell survival in ... - PubMed - NCBI
CONCLUSIONS:
In summary, the authors showed that NIr can be applied intracranially, does not have toxic side effects, and is neuroprotective.

This research was done on rats, so the next step was human testing.

This was in 2014.
Rewind to 2017, our days.

There is one company I had found that makes equipment to treat neurological disorders with near infrared

About Us - VieLight Inc

It is expensive and nowhere to be found info of a clinical trial that proves this technology works.

Looks like it is long overdue for a new grant to fund research on humans.

I have found one clinical trial "Photobiomodulation for Improving Brain Function in Dementia (PBM Dementia)", here is the link:
Photobiomodulation for Improving Brain Function in Dementia (PBM Dementia) - Full Text View - ClinicalTrials.gov

The trial will last till March 2018

Default Australia trial to be started

Not sure if this trial is related to the other studies mentioned.
Worth the read.
