Default ALZFORUM article: Genetic Findings Link PD to Crohn's Disease, and to Inflammation

"... LRRK2 inhibitors being developed for PD might help people with Crohn's disease, while anti-inflammatory approaches could benefit Parkinson's patients ..."

"These data tell us that Parkinson's is, at least in part, an inflammatory disease ..."

"The data support the idea that PD might result from the long-term consequences of a transient infection that touches off chronic inflammation and alpha-synuclein accumulation in people with certain genetic susceptibilities ..."

Genetic Findings Link Parkinson’s to Crohn’s Disease, Inflammation | ALZFORUM

I'm now considering the addition of an anti-inflammatory to my list of medications/supplements.

It's behind a paywall, but read [1]:

"in a cohort of 876 patients with Parkinson's disease, based on the observation that LRRK2 is a shared genetic risk factor. We identified 2 patients with Crohn's diseases; this number was consistent with the number of cases expected in the general population."

Do we know of anyone (besides me) who gets glutathione pushes (IV glutathione). As I understand it, glutathione is a powerful anti inflammatory. I used to get them weekly but I have tapered off to every other week. I can't tell if they are helpful or not. I first learned about them from Perlmutter's youtubes. KNPV,

My understanding is that glutathione is an antioxidant, and that PwPs have reduced levels of glutathione. I take the supplement N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) in the belief that this will raise my level of glutathione.

In terns of anti-inflammatories, what I have in mind is things like Aspirin and Ibuprofen.
