Default Request for referral

Folks, I'm asking for someone to forward me the name of a movement disorder specialist who is also a very good pianist. I know it's a strange request, but I have my reasons, as follows.

Although I've never earned my living at it, my first degree was in jazz piano performance, and piano has been a significant love of my life since about age 3.

Since my PD diagnosis 2 years ago, I've noticed that my facility in my left (dominant, affected) hand has deteriorated. However, even when I was in music school 30 years ago, my left (dominant) hand never had the facility of my right hand. There are very specific kinds of movement that are necessary for piano, some of which seem affected by my PD.

I want to talk to a pianist who is a MDS so that I can better communicate the nuances of my affectedness -- both now and back in college -- than I can with my wonderful current non-pianist MDS. My hope is that there may be some possible improvement that I can achieve, either with therapy or exercise or [who knows].

I'm based in Southern California (Santa Ana, in Orange County), but I would travel if necessary for this consult.

I hope I'm not running afoul of forum rules by asking for this referral, but if I am, hopefully the highly specific nature of my request might make for an exception.

Thank you

Dan Freedman

Dan

Although he practices in NYC, Dr Steven J Frucht
Is an MDS who has a music background himself

If you google him you will see his background and expertise as it relates to musicians ....

I am not a musician but utilized Dr Frucht for a second opinion on my
Parkinsins Diagnosis and I found him to be very competent.

I hope you find this helpful

Thanks for your post and for your email in which you sent me a link you had trouble posting. In case there are others in the community who would benefit from that link, here it is:
