Default Tena here are the poems from the site that John said was gone

I haven't been through them all but the majority are here. Go to the bottom and find the forum you posted about.

I can't believe I found them

Thelma

Thanks, Thelma.

Since you are a super-sleuth, see if you can find poems written after 1999. It seems that there was some in 2000 before John switched forum formats.

I wonder if he ever got the collection published.

Default What a wizard you are, Thelma!

Yikes! I can't find the server. My entire body of prose was on that server, the one he backed up every night and carried home on a hard disk.

Later: Found the poems on the fifth try. What a wonderful collection! This is a huge consolation if I never find the prose. Thanks, friend.

Here are the ones 2000 and back a bit. If they come up unable to read then hit them again and they sometimes come up the second hit.

The Lavender Gown
This poem submitted by Lavnderlou on 2/8/99.

8/8/ -2007 -look at the dates: I had no idea that my life
was about to change -
-
I (still) love the comments of the poets -

I still remember writing the poem -trying to encourage myself
The tears were running down my face while I was writing this simple little poem…

With love to you dear Thelma for finding “The Lost Words”

the best part of finding the past is that people shared their thoughts and hearts with others still -and in 1999 the net was still very young...
love
tenalouise /aka lavenderlou

The lavender gown
that I once wore
antiqued and aging
in an old dresser drawer

and a purse made of pearls
with a handle of gold
tarnished,miscolored
forgotten and old

O joy that I could run
back to that day
and put on my dress
to dance night away

Or awaken to find
I'd had a nightmare
and that I was healthy
and had not a care

But in this reality
I will stay
praying for health
Day after day

Looking for answers?
I haven't a clue
One day at a time
is the best I can do

The cure is awaiting
in some brilliant mind
Who studies with fervor
for the answers to find

Until then I shall escape
in my lavender dress
to dance with the stars
and run from the stress

-------------- Author's Notes --------------
Sometimes dwelling on illness, leads to depression, and in my case
this is so true,so I escape from the thoughts that bombard me daily.
I do have parkinson's disease, but it does not have me!!!!

Hi Lavenderlou,
I have just read your beautiful poem and have decided to use some of my precious ink printing it out! You certainly have a way with words, Parkinson's has it's way with your body, but not your mind. I could feel myself in the room with you, real or imaginary it was lovely. I too have a precious dress, long black velvet with tiny red bows, it stays in the loft, only because I can no longer climb up the ladder and get it! maybe tomorrow?

Your lovely poem brought back memories of my "sweet little Alice-blue gown" I wore on our 'senior trip' in high school. You have a wonderful attitude, and we all pray for a wonderful outcome. Until then I will try to 'escape from my stress, and dance in my dress'. Thank you.

Good words, lovely word pictures. I hope they find the cure soon, I have personal experience with this disease, feel like running away from it too, diagonosed in 1993.

Exclamation personal info in old posts!

One of the reasons we have urged caution on reposting these in their entirety is that EMAIL ADDYS SHOW on many of the old posts.

PLEASE if anyone is copying these old posts, you MUST check for other people's personal information and edit it out before posting these here

I know it is great to find these old posts, but this is an area we have to be careful of when re-posting them

thanks
Cheri

I saw that one for the first time yesterday morning and i remember the day I first saw it.

So much has happened and so little as well since you wrote that. You have taken me along on your journey and it has been quite a trip. We all here in many ways have gone thru hell in one way or another and still we post and still we share both the good and the bad. Like one member says here we try and not let the really bad obsess us so that it scares anyone new or bring them down but assure them that they too can weather it.

This is a new site for us and while the old one had it's bad points it was the mother of this one. And I would like to remember what took place there.

John will tell us what he feels is best for this site and we really should wait for him.

I guess I am too old to be thought of as an errant child but we have all been treated that way even by each other and survived,

So is that it Tena .................WE [really] ARE THE CHAMPIONS

Heart dear thelma~

dearest Thelma
we are trying the best we can -
and if we learn from our mistakes - and I have made soooooooooooo many
-we become victorious , instead of victims...

but it takes hard lessons, and much pain -

yet when we use it contructively to help others, the pain eases
thank you, for showing us how far we have come in our walk.

I am happier now -then at the beginning -however in all things -
I have found not to look back too often -and on the other hand dont live a week ahead of the calender - this kind of stuff -causes to much stress,
and when you combine high stress with toxic food, environment -a stupid president that is a warmonger -etc.
illness is usually a mathmatical result...
I have learned one valuable lesson -when the TV talkers starts to get to you
press the OFF button -

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet.
Only through experience of trial and suffering
can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired,
and success achieved.

~ Helen Keller ~

love and peace to your heart thelma,
luv
tena
