I have lived with PD for 30 years. I also have a sister with PD. I have 2 mutations of my Parkin and a F-DOPA scan confirmed my diagnosis. Was wondering if there were any other old-timers out there. I have made many friends over the duration of my living with PD: Paula, Tom Berdine, Big Bear, Carolines' porch, Tenacitywins, Laura Dean, Russell Armstrong, Indigo (Carey,) Charley. So many intelligent, artistic and dedicated individuals. I am feeling lonely for my old friends. I feel the sadness conveyed by the old Beatles tune, "Has anyone here seen my old friend Martin, Can you tell me where he's gone? He helped a lot of people, but he sure died young, Abraham , Martin and John."

I have had PD for 15 years and on balance I have to say that I am in a better place than I expected.
I know what you mean about people leaving the board, for a number of reasons, people such as Paula, Tom Isaacs, RATIONALIST, Everett, (white mice leader), Ron Hutton, et al. Just the flow of time I guess, and so many ways to communicate the PC based forum is probably one of the least effective so people move on. Even so. in its day, this board was the daddy of the PD circle, its archives surely represent the best source of information regarding PD in any single place and if the market is still there then I hope it can help educate a new generation of PWP. Take care, Neil. |

I believe I have lived with PD for more than 30 years, though for much of that time I had no clue that I had it. I was diagnosed about 3.5 years ago. Once diagnosed, a lot of little things in my life started to make a lot more sense.
For example, I'm left-handed, but my left hand could never move as fast as my right hand (as measured by playing the piano). Other things such as frequent urination and fatigue, seem related to PD too. Dan |
