Glad you at least got to see the replacement doc and he actually wrote some rx's for you. Some doctors just aren't very adept at managing their time--and I have the impression that if they're in a group practice, they're sometimes prodded to stay within specified time limits. I've noticed that some doctors I go to have my appointments scheduled to last 15 or 20 or 30 minutes, all set up in advance, and they seem to stick to that. I suspect that most group practices work that way, to make sure that each doctor is seeing a certain number of patients each day and not getting behind. The doc you saw may have problems with the office management if he's spending so much time on each patient. Two hours seems more than would be called for usually.

Ideally he should have read up on your file before he was face to face with you.

Waiting till June till you can see him again to straighten out the dosage sounds difficult. Maybe you can make arrangements to be on a wait list so they'll notify you if there's a cancellation so you can see him sooner. Or maybe you can reach him by phone with your question, and it can be straightened out by phone?

Thanks to all for your thoughtful replies. Yes, this new neurologist is clearly running scared of the "responsibility" that goes with prescribing the max amount of hydrocodone--one 10/325mg taken every 4-6 hrs as needed. What he is not taking into consideration is that I have been a model patient for over ten yrs. I've taken the required Federal urinalysis tests, I've never asked for an early refill, etc. I've taken this amount of hydrocodone with four 5mg diazepam daily without incident for over 10 yrs. He did write the diazepam the same as my old doc, but for the hydrocodone he only wrote three 5/325mg daily. Right now I'm in pretty bad shape. I have DJD at C-5, C-6, & C-7. The 5mg tabs simply don't do anything at all. I've called once and left a msg to that effect. That's about all I can do, legally...
