ok - had neurological exam, bloodwork, urine, blood pressure, psych, this morning plus informed consent review
This afternoon had radioactive isotope injection (but prior to the injection they give you a protective drink - to protect your thyroid - that tastes really bad ) blood pressure - twice this afternoon and evening are free time. I think i'll walk around the Yale campus, maybe catch a movie. Have dinner at fish restaurant I found last night. tomorrow morning is the SPECT scan ~ 30 minutes then back to NYC to catch the flight back to Arizona cheers!

I hope all goes well. When they do your Spect scan, do they make sure you're in a quiet room, or doesn't it matter?
It mattered to me. At the Brigham and Women's Hospital, a couple of folks were talking about their Christmas shopping, inside the room, just a few feet away from me. I got angrier and angrier and blew up at them for being so unprofessional, so they had to do it over from the start. Second time I went there for a scan, there was a ruckuss in the room next to mine (open windows in between) that never let up. I was furious. I was having a brain scan, dammit. My BP gets high when I'm angry. And my brain metabolism is probably different, too. Shouldn't it be peaceful? I hope yours was! |

with this scan you are alone in a room. You bring your favorite music on a cd, and listen to it while the scan takes place. I've had good luck in past scans, and expect the same tomorrow morning. I agree with you - that extraneous noise would be distracting and unpleasant!!

If you want to see what it was like, scroll down the web page (link above) and look at the bottom left of the page - I've inserted a photo there. This photo was taken of me by the technician just after the scan was completed. While in the scan, my head was inside the triangular area you see just past the top of my head. I'm home now after the 5 1/2 hour plane ride (ouch) back to Arizona. Cheers!
