Default Nuerokinetc ????

Noticed in the local paper and while doubt it is a cure there is definitely something to traditional accupuncture and there seems to be a lot action in its nontraditional use.

Injured Dickenson reaches out to astronaut surgeon

Published: Thursday, September 13, 2007

In his latest recovery attempt from post-concussion syndrome, B.C. Lions quarterback Dave Dickenson is willing to seek out help from anywhere, even by reaching out to a doctor with a background in outer space.

Dr. Philippe Souvestre, a former flight surgeon with the French Air Force who has worked with astronauts in France's space program, is aiding Dickenson's return to the lineup through auricular acupuncture, a branch of non-convential eastern medicine.

Dickenson has been visiting Souvestre's clinic -- Neurokinetic Health Services in Vancouver -- for regular treatments in hopes of clearing blocked neurological pathways. Souvestre straddles both the conventional and non-conventional sides of healing. He also has training in traditional Chinese methods.

Dickenson, who hasn't played since July 13, took part in the Lions' practice today in Surrey before ducking out to visit the acupuncturist. He has tiny nail heads protruding from areas around his ears that are part of his treatment.

"It's just another theory we're trying," Dickenson said. "There's certainly room to try some different things. We're moving ahead. I'm definitely on track. I believe there are some benefits [from acupuncture]. I'm trying to do everything I can to get back on the field."
