Very interesting conversation, I have been taking Byetta for about a year now and have had no problems. I began with a dose of 5mcg bid and went to 10mcg bid about 2 months ago. Since begining byetta I have had great control of my glucos levels and my pre-post and morning numbers are WNL for the first time in years. Additionally I have lost about 60lbs in the past year.
I also ave Young Onset Parkinson's (dx'd in 2004) I have hyperlipedemia and have had acute pacreatitis 4 times between 1996 and 2003 after which I was dx'd with Type II diabetes. It was not until I began taking insilun that I was able to control my trigliceride levels. They were routinely 1250-2500. Now with Insilun (levimir 44 units, metformin 1000 mg bid, glipizide xr 5mg and Byetta 10mcg bid) my trigliceride levels are 180-195 over several 3 month blood work follow ups and I have seen no difference in my PD after starting Byetta. My tremors contiune to worsen and other sypmtomes continue to creep in. Just wanted to share my personal experience with this medication, if I even had a hint of pancreatitis i would stop the drug as that is a painful experience I never want to have again.
