Default How much money.....

or how does one host the hardware to set up our own PD blogg with a member only status. I would like to see this kind of a "PD club", where the only people not admitted would be those who don't have anything to do with PD. Friends , family and caretakers would be allowed. No restrictions on race, color, religion, sexual preference, or ANYTHING, as long as one signs a contract, that they will not flame others and be nice and keep the foul language down to a dull roar. Unasked repetition of anyone's work outside the forum would be an immediate boot. If we get trolls we judge them by member vote and if the vote is unanimous that they are indeed trolls, then out they go. This would prevent any use of the site by people looking into our private matters, and i would think that we could get some privacy agreement that eveything we say is not immediately put on the public net. Lurker types would be kept out. We would police ourselves and nobody would be "kingpin", even the person that chose to donate the most money to keep the site afloat. It would be a "PWP democracy on the web. Is such a thing possible? I just don't like being under the scrutiny of people i don't know and don't trust their access abilities to our private messaging system.
What say dudes and dudettes?

Check your PMs, cs.

I would like us to stop the habit of judging and grading each other's viewpoints. I think it comes from voting devices like the thanks button. I would like to see us be more careful to read disclaimers (like "just my experience") and stop replying as if statements are critical when they're only another viewpoint.

Default Impossible!

A democratic forum like that is an impossible ideal, cs. We are none of us perfect enough to get along without power struggles. We're human, we're nice only up to a point. We will step on toes and hurt feelings even when we don't mean to. Our feelings are fragile, there would be all the same problems on your ideal forum because we are still us. All we have in common is that we all have PD. If we were to edit and police ourselves we would never be able to agree on either policies or editing, we would quickly get entangled in huge, endless arguments, and some one, or a group would emerge as leader/leaders anyway.

The restrictions in here are minor, the words that trigger the **** are not necessary for communication or expression. What could be more innocent than a ****willow, and sillier than a system that can't read it? It's not offensive, it's just funny.

I don't like the thank you button either, and I don't use it. It's a little too smarmy.

We are who we are. You don't have to love everyone, or even like everyone here to keep coming back. It's a forum, and we come here to discuss and to agree and to disagree. And we come here with all the baggage of our different lives, different backgrounds, different situations. I think every one of us has, at one time or another, felt ignored or snubbed whether we have been or not. We are all quite fragile, some more than others, but even the Pollyannas here have PD.
