That is interesting about the hypoglycenmic effect of mucuna powder...I have started using tincture I made myself from fava plants and last week when we had our Thanksgiving family get-to-gether I ate deserts various people had made & they didn't seem to have any ill effects at all. Well, I am diabetic and couldn't have done that last year. I wonder if the fava plant also has a hypoglycemic effect??? I am doing so well on one drop at night & one drop in the morning. Just read Ken Allans report again on this post, and had forgoten that he said the whole plant had more levadopa than the bean...anyway ...our bean plants are chin high and we are still picking as of yesterday. We are supposed to have a cold spell this week ...we'll see how they fare. They may grow year round here in TN Aunt Bean is still very excited and wish you all could come visit the bean patch!

I grew Mucuna & fava beans in the last two summers. Mucuna is definitely much more
powerful than fava. A very small bean goes a long way as far as energy and supporting our need for l-dopa. A capsule would probably be enough for 4 doses for me,,,,,I have noticed that mucuna comes in different strengths too thru different suppliers. One good way to get a more predictable effect and lower dose at a time is to make mucuna balls. I am in Indiana with my grandbaby that has lukemia right now..but upon returning home I will enter my recipe for mucuna balls that some of you may want to try...an easy no bake that freezes well too. If I have alot of work to do and not much time or energy to work with...I will add a mucunua ball before heading out to work in the garden. God Bless Keep baby Owen in your prayers.......Thanks Aunt Bean |

Aunt Bean I was wondering what the recipie for the mucuna balls is? Also do you eat them frequently and are you taking this along with the papaya in addition to Levadopa? Thanks in advance...

Finally found someone to let me experiment. Nothing else has worked except Amantadine, which helped my balance for a few months but nothing else. That is wearing off. I fell 4x in the past 3 weeks, my body just went down. Had many close calls, too, when I had a little warning and was near something I could grab for support. Bought Mucuna to try myself before my dr appt on the 20th. If Mucuna is good for me, I'll stick with that. What dose is usual for the first? How long does it take to feel effects? Thank you. |

Inactive ingredients are not always harmless and I'm sensitive to many drugs (and foods, and vapors from solvents, insecticides, ammonia, etc.). I felt like my life force was being sucked out and someone had beaten my body with a club. It may have been the sinemet or a coincidence but it's the last thing I'll try. 7.5 grams might be a teaspoonful. i've tried a teaspoon of raw mucuna powder with my oatmeal and basically felt a little nasuas and stopped after a few "tests" . i recently purchased a product on iherb called DOPA MUCUNA, STANDARDIZED VELVET BEAN EXTRACT, 15% L-DOPA. 800MG/CAPSULE. tried 1 capsule on subsequent mornings and felt nothing. i wanted to try it as an adjunct to sinemet, to see if it increased my on time. i might continue testing it, might not since the sinemet is working ok. |
