Default Why does "psyche central",....

Another Blogg created and maintained by the "Doc John " crowd, allow unfiltered obscenities to such an extent that even ol'cs thinks it's a bit much? I have read posts over there that would make even a sailor say "does every second word you say have to be ****?"
Methinks that there are a few people here, let's just call them the "hypersensitive to obscenities" type that are having their viewpoints and morals thrust upon the management, and this goes very much against my "live free or die"; Patrick Henry bent.
Now i dont like to hear rampant obscenities either; it is a negative reflection of the poster; but a few well placed "off color" words can be humorous as well as an exclamation point. Of course there is never a place for racism, sexism or any intolerance based on these and other subjects, but just the fact that "off color" words are "Allowed" in a similar venue and "forbidden" in this venue, smacks of "unequal influence" of a certain group over others.
Why is this so?

The disappointing part to me is that those who are interested could read a rememberance thread and those who aren't could ignore it. It's like TV - if I don't like a program, I don't watch it - seems pretty simple to me.

Now that I know the rules, I want you guys to stop watching My Name Is Earl because I hate that show! So there! Oh yeah and also stop watching Fox News and.......

Sorry you're disgusted by the democratic process, Thelma. But I'm here for *all* members, not just those who are most vocal with their opinions.

As for the profanity filters, they are commonplace on all online forums. Sensitive that most people don't need to use such words in everyday face-to-face conversations while talking about most health issues with their friends and acquaintances, we may err a bit more on the side of sensitivity on obscenities here. The Psych Central website's filters are less sensitive than those here mainly due to the software, not due to the actual list, but I'm happy to try and fix any words that should be on the list but aren't.

John

Oh and by the way do you know of how I can get this avitar of my great granddaughter and her first day at school enlarged and entered here.

The expressions she used that day are so like what both her and the boys were going through to find themselves trapped with the opposite sex.

Shades of horror.
