Thanks for all the replies. It is so frustrating to see stories in the news about people who have to fight tooth and nail, and pay an attorney, to finally get Social Security Benefits before age 65.
I was fortunate in that I moved to NYS in 2003. I had filed in FL in 2000. Over three years I heard narry a peep from SS...nothing, nada, zip!! I moved to NYS in June 2003. I re-filed there. Within two weeks I had a letter requesting that I attend a SS physician physical exam. Did that. Two weeks after the appt I received my award letter. It does matter what state you live in. One would think that a federal program would be administered the same from state to state, but NOT! Florida has too many seniors and it is very difficult to obtain SS before 65. It is heartening to hear that PAN is taking on this issue!! Yippee!! And I love cs's comment, so appropriate: Quote:
