PD & sleep meds
I'm taking Sinemet 25/100 4x daily, and trazodone 100mg X2 at bedtime. It seems to work for me, especially when I take the trazodone 30-45 minutes before going to bed.

I take Sinemet 25/100 6 times during the day with a 1/2 just before I hit the hay. This works pretty well, and I'm now able to sleep most of the night unless the bladder thinks otherwise.
At my 4-1/2 times per day, I was waking up around 3am or 4am with spasms in my feet, and kicking legs and active arms. At one point I even punched my self in the eye and had to explain to everyone I wasn't in a fight, except with myself during the night! The next day after the horrible sleepless night was wicked. I felt puky, and the Sinemet the next day didn't seem to help at all with the PD. It was as though I couldn't get enough in me to make me feel better. It sometimes took until my 6:00 pm pill to finally kick in and do something for me. At this point of course, my day was down the drain as far as doing something productive. John |
Just a quick note that in the latest issue of the APDA Young Parkinson's Newsletter - which I'm assuming you can access online - there is a nice article about sleep issues. Helped me realize that I'm certainly not crazy or alone in this issue. Check it out...

sleep
If you sleep in the day does it make it worse at night? We have decided to just go with the flow and both now have a mediterranean lifestyle. We go to bed late, get up early and lie down, not just drop off in the chair ,for a couple of hours in the day. This works out fine as we do not go to work.
