Mary,
You should have been at the clinic I go to last week. They were having a special on trading in your neurological disorder for a lifetime attack of hangnails. Doc promised to let me know as soon as they were ready. In other words, use your sense of humor, and when you can't, set a time limit on pity parties. Mine is one hour. If it's worse than that I look for someone who needs help and either help them or find someone who can. If I can't get up for that, I call Doc to be evaluated for clinical depression (the physically-caused kind that you can't shake off--very common wih PD and not a character flaw). Very important: nevery let PD ruin your whole day. See something beautiful or hear great music for a whole minute. That way you can look back and see a lot of days or years when it didn't get you down. Besides, it helps you get out of your self almost as well as helping others. Cultivate a habit of optimism. You'll feel better for longer--clinically proven: attitude matters. Exercise matters. Now look above at that picture. Click on it to make it bigger. Look at the lovely lady on the left. Where would she be without her determination to make the best of life? She is beauiful, and always will be. So. Does my method work all the time? No. Can you make life better overall? Yes. Jaye |

Jaye, its easy to fall into gloomy thoughts especially if the meds aren't working properly. I found that out in the last few months, I felt like I was spiraling downward. It seems that the culprit was the Wellbutrin that I was taking, it had a stimulating effect which combined with the Requip was causing anxiety and restlessness. Not sure but the antibiotics I was taking for an infected tooth may also have contributed to the situation. Its been a couple of weeks now and my Dr. has now prescribed Luvox. Anyone else taking this? I'd like your opinion on this drug. I am doing much better already, didn't think it would change things so quickly. Just goes to show you that it is possible, don't give up. Its unfortunate that it takes time to test these meds to see if they work for you or not, and then more time to switch to another one. It certainly does test your metal.

Hi Everyone:
It's gradually getting cooler here in the northeast as the leaves turn and begin to fall. Yesterday, we went to the Fryeberg, Maine Fair. It's an old fashioned fair with lots of unhealthy food, old time music and lots of people. We went on a Tuesady expecting to miss the crowd. Wrong. People were there in great numbers. On the drive home, I asked my wife if she would give me piano lessons. She has taught piano for many years and even played in Carnegie Hall when she was much younger. She said she would even though I would be playing with one fully usable hand and one that sometimes has a mind of its own. I have to make up a schedule. Upon our return from our Elderhostel in New York we got a shock. We got a phone call telling us there were unusual charges on our credit card. Someone had stolen our identity and put a $500 charge on our card. I had to destroy it and apply for a new one. Since I seldom use the card we were able to determine where the number was stolen. I'll have to be more careful in the future. In spite of that, life is still pretty good. The Packers are winning, the sun keeps shinng, I'm taking a University course on Biochemistry and my two new grandsons will soon visit me. All the best, Lloyd |

You could be next, Lloyd! You know the old addage "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?" the answer: "Practice, practice, practice!"

My wife reminded me that there is a piano piece by Ravel (Concerto for he Laft Hand). Only trouble is it's my left hand that trembles. I'll have to find a piece for the right hand. Al the best, Lloyd |

You'll get another chance later this year. However, I think this is a green Bay year. I'll be going to Green Bay later this month for the Burckle family reunion. All the best, Lloyd |

It use to be Packer fans hated (too strong? OK disliked) the Bears. It seems in the last few years the animosity has turned to the Vikings. Doesn't mean we won't be hoping the Bears fall on their faces this Sunday. My husband was on the waiting list for season tickets for over 30 years and now finally has 4 season tickets. There are over 74,000 people currently on the waiting list. It looks like Favre is going to have a banner year.
I was in Bear country this past weekend at Shake, Rattle, and Roll with my husband and we had a great time. Another wonderful year for Joan. Perfect weather. I met some truly wonderful people with and without PD. Carol |
