Default Weekly Check-In Oct 14-20, 2007 Welcome New Community Members

Hi Everyone..Welcome to our new community members!

Its finally starting to cool down a bit here in New England, but the weather is still nice..We had a thunder storm rip through here last night, and it hit something real close by that shook the whole house, and knocked out my sattilite tv for about a half an hour..The cats went and hid

I went out fishing about 4 days this week, and did well..Too bad the price stinks

I saw my neuro on Thursday, and it was the best appointment in terms of progress since I started seeing him 3 years ago, so the CR is the answer for me..He was pleased with the examination, and so was I..And to top it off my blood pressure was 110/80!..It had been borderline for about 5 years, like around 140/93, and last visit 6 months ago it was around 130/80 or 85..or something like that..so that is good news as well

I was on the phone this afternoon with a friends mother, whos sister has pd, and is having a tough time, dx about 4 yrs ago..I recommended she join us here, and ask some questions..Hopefully she will be joining us

How was your week?

Hi Steve:

You really are right about the New England Fall. The colors are peaking near Portland. Reminds me of that poiem by Edna St. Vincent Millay (Gof's World). Went to a Pumpkin Farm near Falmouth, Maine and got ourselves a few pumpkins. Avoided (I think) a family crisis; at least it would have been a crisis for me. I hope it was a case of misunderstandkng and failure to communicate.

Hope for the best,

Lloyd

Default CR

Hello Steve You mentioned CR I am assumming you mean Sinemt Cr. I just tried it for the last month and I found it upset my stomach. The Dr. told me to take it going to bed but it didn't seem to agree with me. Do you have this problem? I seem to have found a level ground lately. My stress has eased and I have changed some of my meds. It seems to be working, I am feeling a lot better. My new granddaughter is arriving on Oct. 30th, something to look forward to and I am also in the process of selling my house. I hope all my hard work pays off now, don't know where I'll be moving to but I'm not worried, I have lots of family and friends where I can stay unrtil I find another house. I might just be a gypsy for a while, after all I only have myself to worry about.

Smile Fall is my favorite

time of the year! The temperatures here are finally becoming seasonal; 50's at night and 70s to low 80's days. Yesterday (Sunday) was especially nice. Finally getting some much needed rain.
Steve, it is good to hear about your good checkup. Except for my morning "kickstart" of a half 25/100 regular (generic)sinemet, i depend on 2 50/200 (also generic) CR for the rest of my daily carbi/levo needs. That, along with amantadine, CoQ10 and nightly low-dose DM keep me ginning along.
Also, has it occurred to you, Steve, to try to get someone on the local cooking scene ( newspaper, TV, etc.) to promote recipies using fresh conch? Is its texture and taste suitable for soups, stews or chowder? Just a thought.
Hope everyone has a good week.
Robert

Default never a dull moment

Hey, Just in case you were wondering what's up with my gazillion posts. I'm finally up and running again. Gosh that feels good!

My husband is on a business trip, gone for two weeks. He's in Australia, first, and then directly on to Jakarta. It's only his second trip to Australia and boy, did I ever want to go. It's a long story why I can't.

I'm holding my own PD wise. My right toe curls still, forcing the others with it. That triggers my entire gait to be off and then I'm in pain. I need to take stock in Icy Hot packs.

I have found that by wearing sandals, and with a bit of a heel, it seems to help. I did learn that I should choose my sandals with a bit more tack ... I wore a pair to a local store, caught a glimpse of me in the mirror (with shorts) and it screamed prostitute. (Can I say that on this website?!)

Ironically when I'm in my own home NOT wearing them, I regret it later on. But wearing them around the house is a pain in the butt and I have to admit that I look a bit weird out in the yard raking, weeding, or mowing in heels! Maybe I should put on my "prostitute" pair. That might get some tongues wagging in our neighborhood. LOL And wouldn't it be a hoot to show up at Baylor's School of Medicine like that. Gosh I could have a bit of fun!

And, then, for some reason or another, there are days that my toe doesn't curl and I walk just fine. I need to keep track of what I"m doing and/or what I'm wearing to try and find a pattern. I'm just too $#*% busy having fun. (Yeah. Right. Read sarcasm in between the lines!)

Oh ... one thing that happened recently is that our oldest son proposed and being married this summer. She's a lovely girl and they've been going out together since the 7th grade. I'll gain another daughter which I sorely need.

Sure hope everyone has a great week. If not, look me up and we could have tongues wagging in two subdivisions!

Terri

Hi Robert..Its feels great to finally get this thing under control, and other than some fatigue and occasional toe curling, Im doing fine..Im still religiously taking the DM as well

Conch is a very popular dish in this neck of the woods..They make a salad out of it, and is available in every restaurant, supermarket, seafood store, and deli..The problem with the market/price to fishermen is the cheaper foreign product coming in from South America..The fishermen get screwed again!..As usual..

And what happened is a couple of years ago when the price shot up to $1.40 per lb everyone and his brother were going conch fishing..Then human nature took over and some guys decided that they wanted it all for themselves and asked the state to impose ridiculous regulations on the fishery in hopes of pushing people out..Then this year the price went down to .70 cents per lb and Im one of the few guys still fishing for conch, but the new conch regulations are still in the process of being promulgated..Nothing new..
