Default This is your brain on hormones

An interesting report today on the finding that insulin and dopamine are intertwined in the brain at
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...1017090131.htm

Insulin is one of those things relegated to endocrinology as is cortisol and so on (i.e. hormones). These links hint at why stress and blood sugar levels mess with us so badly in the short term and may even be causal in the long term.

This also highlights the problem of thinking of PD as simply a neurological disorder. Until we bring in the endos (and immunos) to sit with the neuros at the table, we aren't going to see the big picture.

Currently (2011) taking 200/50 Sinemet CR 8 times a day + 10/100 Sinemet 3 times a day. Functional 90% of waking day but fragile. Failure at exercise but still trying. Constantly experimenting. Beta blocker and ACE inhibitor at present. Currently (01/2013) taking ldopa/carbadopa 200/50 CR six times a day + 10/100 form 3 times daily. Functional 90% of day. Update 04/2013: L/C 200/50 8x; Beta Blocker; ACE Inhib; Ginger; Turmeric; Creatine; Magnesium; Potassium. Doing well.
