Default Haven't been here in quite awhile

in fact ai can'tremember when I last was on here. It has been over a year ago shortly after a major debacle in a local emergency room. That experience led to quite a decline due to post traumatic stress. As a result I had bilateral DBS in Apri at Johns Hopkins. It was filmed for a documentary that is scheduled to be aired in May 2008. Everyone says that I'm doing better, but sometimes I don't feel that well. Amyway, I've missed many of you here and I see that there are also many new members since my last visit. I was known as MK2.

Default Sorry MK2, my previous post ...

could have been construed as tactless.

Take my word, it wasn't intended to be so.

Take care,
Neil.

Default GOOD to know, MKane

Lately I have been on the verge of asking where you were.....since that horrific e- room story...and am gad to hear the horses are ok too. Did you ever get any retribution (?) from the hospital, md,etc. I really have thought of you alot. Hope you are back on the farm and will continue to improve.

Neil,

I took no offense whatsoever. I'm happy to be back.

Ibby,

No, I got no retribution and basically gave it up to get on with my life. I forwarded all the hospital records as well as my statement and witnesses accounts to the hospital president, Medicare and friends in high places in Washington DC. The hospital supposedy investigated and said it didn't happen,. Medicare reviewed it, but never interviewed anyone and determined that thet standaard of care was met. Ther people in DC were shocked that they could get no response from anyone at HHS on the matter. A friend of mine had me contact a law firm in Knoxville because one of the partners had written an article in a legal publication about just this sort of case. When I spoke to him, he was very interested untill I told him the name of the hospital and he immeediately told me that no attorney will take a case against them. I have received calls from many people who have heard of what happened and they called me to relate similar stories. Like me they just can not get any legal help.

I could not find a standardof care for Parkinson nor one for dyskenesia. So I found one for psychosis which is what the ER doctor said I had. That standard clearly states that restraints should not be used without consultation with whoever brought the patient in. Therefore, if they believe the ER doctor the standard of care was definetly not met. I don't remember if I wrote here that after receiving copies of the records from the hospital there was a section that was blacked out. A friend put it under a black llight and we discovered that I was put in a straight jacket. That must have been when my memory went blank because I don't remember it. My doctor tells me that it will come back to me someday.

In any case, I avoid that hospital entirely and would advise anyone with PD to stay out of ERs.

Take care,
Neil.
I don't like to belabor it but I assumed too much in my reply to aftermathman's greeting, because i am too lazy to write it out properly...so to make sure that MK and now Neil understands me too, I'll change the description of Neil's comment [now edited out] to:

I thought it was warmly funny.

I dedicate this reply to KC, who for some reason seems to think and told me so that "i do go on.'

I had forgotten about the Emergency fiasco....was that your last post MK?

paula

oh and now its a tad late but i'll read above....p...lol

ok read it...good grief! ...p

Book words words - Special for Paula

"You use more words than I do, So you should be better with them"

Not a KCT original but I cannot remember where it originated.
