Texas sun shines through the artist’s window showcasing her work in precise detail. Flowers of majesty envelope each room While musicians beckon imagination To hear them play the blues. Tinkerbell conducts her symphony Knowing the importance of its balance. The days are passing by quickly The artist realizes the importance of time As her role has changed to that of caregiver. Her studio is often empty now Its hold on her has been replaced With the commitment known only through The depths found in the purest love. In the quiet moments she paints. Faces that share the pain of parkinson’s disease Await her blunt paintbrush to bring them life. She wants to show the world a reality That is too deep for simple colors definition. Each hue is withdrawn from the heart. The disease then becomes personal. I look at my portrait with awe The artist has found my inner soul Staring back at me through my own eyes, I can see her gift of sacrifice. Her struggles are one with mine yet her strength and commitment become my ground to stand upon. Thank you gayle.
