Heart 2008 EVENT: 2008 EVENT...2008 Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease Retreat (YOPDR)

If you have a preference location, please contact Brenda Allred (email address below):

2008 Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease Retreat (YOPDR)

Ms Allred's comment by email were
: "Since the majority of the people who attend the YOPDR each year are from Tennessee and Alabama , I've had quite a few people from last year's event to ask if we could have it next year in the North Western part of Alabama…Perhaps this is a good idea.

"Please let me know your thoughts on whether we should have the 7th Annual YOPDR in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. as it has been held traditionally, or go for having it in Alabama. Please be quick with your response as we do need to decided on a definite place and time by the end of this month!

A diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (PD) is devastating to all patients and their families, but is especially so for younger people. Many young-onset people and their families have difficulty relating their situation to that of the typical support group members who are elderly and retired. The YOPDR brings together younger families affected by PD for fellowship, peer support and education.

"I'm looking forward to the 7th Annual Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease Retreat. And, I'm looking forward to hearing your ideas about next year's event!

"Please be an active part in making this event a success. There are so many things to do to prepare for it– if you can volunteer for just one thing, it will be a tremendous help… Please get involved!"
