The only addition for Mirapex is compulsive behavior; e.g. gambling.
As all stated above, don't just quit...agonist must be titrated by a physician.

I understand what all of you are saying about tapering off, but I'm comletely out of the stuff and no way to get any until it shows up in the mail. I took my last pill Satuday morning. It is now Wednesday. If it comes today, do I take my regular dose or gradually increase it from nothing? I'm still reallly spasming and can barely walk at all, and have cihlls. Would this be withdrawal or just lack of mirapex?
Thanks, Mary |

Maybe both, but it's serious!
Why not ask a doctor? SOMEone must be on call for your doc, whoever that is! What about the local MDS you mentioned? Call someone! Don't take no for an answer! Is there another PWP in the area? Go to www.parkinson.org and find out about the support groups in the area. Any information on titrating up should not be from us. We're not doctors, Mary, you know that. Please get on the phone and ask for help. Jaye |

Go to the E.R. You're not functioning properly and, even if your regular neuro/doctor prescribes medication, you still need to be able to get the medication and/or get back home when you can barely function! That's why emergency rooms exist.
I live in my little bubble financially so I have no idea how much this would/could cost you out-of-pocket. Others, please chime in. What I do think (and, the operative word here is 'think'), is that even if you get a bill for $3000.00 and make payments of $10.00/month ... it would be difficult to prove that you're not trying to pay them back. Am I way off base here? I think I'm going to open another thread because this question has always fascinated me. Terri

I will NEVER ever go to an ER again with PD. My advice to anyone with PD is to stay away from ERs. In case you don't recall in May 2005 I was tied up and put into a straight jacket in our local ER due to severe dyskenisa. Had it not been for the intervention of an influenial friend I would have been sent to a hospital for the criminally insane.

Mary's horrendous experience in the ER in Crossville. It is entirely understandable that she is so opposed to going there again. However, I agree with the others that you need to call on someone who can help you get medical attention.
I think you are probably a proud, private person, but please don't let that keep you from reaching out to someone locally who knows you and whom you trust; preferably a person who is familiar with PD. It is urgent that you get someone there now! Robert Last edited by RLSmi; 12-05-2007 at 12:10 PM. |

mkane...have you been able to call the online pharmacy? they can give you tracking numbers to locate your package.
i know the holiday mail slows everything up. since you have an rx, can your mds call in a rx to a local pharmacy for just a few pills?

from all...you definitely need to find help...SOON!
...and your question is valid re: when you DO finally get the Mirapex, should you start from "scratch" with the dosage or continue with your most recent dosage. ...and good suggestions from Curious re: online to track your order...AND/OR ask your pharmacist to give you a few pills. The pharmacists in this area usually do this...in fact, they often ask if we need/want a few pills to "tide us over" until our doctors are available to write a "script" for us. We use different pharmacies and both are always willing to accommodate us this way. Mary...it certainly DOES seem that you are experiencing withdrawal symptoms and need help. Therese |

Mary,
See if you can get some at the local pharmacy to tide you over until your prescription comes in. Call your doctor and get this arranged. You're going through withdrawl symptoms, and that's not good. When I was taken off the Mirapex because it wasn't doing much for me, I had to step down slowly before I stopped completely. Please do yourself a favor in a big way and call your doctor! John |
