Lightbulb AUTOINTOXICATION-and PD

AUTOINTOXICATION

Virtually all disease, no matter what its name, is caused by autointoxication. Simply stated, autointoxication occurs when the body absorbs too much of its own toxic waste. Autointoxication is the outcome of an imbalanced diet and faulty bowel function. It is the root cause of many of today's disorders and illnesses.

If waste cannot be eliminated and accumulates in the body, perhaps suppressed by drugs or extreme tiredness and fatigue, disease sets in! Bacteria and acids accumulate causing the body's pH to go from an 80% alkaline balance, to as much as an 80% acid state! When the body's pH is in balance, most diseases can't possibly exist — it is only when we have a highly acidic state that disease can get a foothold.

SYMPTOMS OF AUTOINTOXICATION

• headaches & migraines
• dementia
• drowsiness
• tics
• stupor
• bloating
• dermatological conditions
• dry eyes
• vision disturbances
• heart arrhythmia
• nausea
• foul breath
• irritability
• flatulence
• insomnia
• photo phobia
• sciatica
• ringing in ears
• insanity
• clammy skin
• malaise
• bad dreams
• delirium
• hypertension
• hardening of the arteries
• ovarian cysts
• muscle atrophy
• skin wrinkles
• carbuncles
• acne
• fallen arches
• leg pains
• muscle inflammations
• kidney disorders
• bladder infections
• back pain
• depression
• burning sensations in face, eyes, hands or feet
• lack of ability to concentrate
• indecision
• fatigue
• fibrocystic breasts
• mastitis
• abdominal pains and cramps
• tearing eyes
• sinus problems
• indigestion
• haemorrhoids
• body odour
• diarrhoea
• coryza (common cold)
• arthritis
• cardia irregularities
• sensitivity to noise
• melancholy
• coma
• cataracts
• hypo tension
• appendicitis
• tumours
• organ degeneration
• boils
• itching
• tonsil troubles

THE HEALTH HARMONY HEALING CENTRE offers the most effective treatment for dealing with autointoxication through colonic hydrotherapy. This method for cleansing the large intestine has been utilised for centuries as adjunct to proper exercise, plenty of water and proper nutrition. A soothing flow of warm water gently circulates throughout the colon, coaxing your body to yield the toxic wastes that have built up inside. It has only been in the last 50 years, through the use of antibiotics, that this procedure seems to have been forgotten by our healers. If you suffer from any of the symptoms listed above, and have as yet failed to find relief through conventional means, you may want to talk to us in detail about what we can do for you.

Lightbulb I believe we have toxicity in our bowels with /PD

so now I am going to show you why I believe -life is in the gut -
many of you do not know things about our body we should know -
hence - NEXT!

A healthy stool half floats and half sinks in water. Stools that float are usually filled with undigested fat or fermented gas. Stools that sink usually have undigested minerals or is so compacted from retention it contains little moisture.

The stool should be composed of 95-98% dead bacteria and 2-3% fibre that has not broken down. Dead bacteria is light brown, hence the healthy stool should be light brown. Other colours can indicate the presence of undigested food, or in some cases, blood. Medications and vitamins can also cause colouration.

Your colon is not unlike a furnace. It's composting function is to heat the body. The internal temperature of a healthy colon is roughly 105ºF/ While there can be a number of reasons for cold hands and feet, chronic constipation, indicated the colon is not processing food fast enough to produce heat, is the most common one.

When the bowel is under-active, toxic wastes are absorbed through the bowel wall and into the bloodstream. The blood then circulates these toxins to every part of the body and deposits some of them in tissues. The greatest amounts of toxins are retained in the constitutionally weakest tissues. If any other elimination system is under-active, (lungs, kidneys, skin or lymph system), more wastes are retained in the body. As toxins accumulate, alterations in cellular function take place and organs begin to malfunction. In addition, as our ability to digest deteriorates, partially digested material starts to putrefy, furthering the toxic accumulation. When we reach the degenerative-disease stage (4 stages of disease — acute, sub-acute, chronic and degenerative), it is a sign that toxic settlements have taken over a specific part or parts of our body.

When the body is overwhelmed by toxic accumulations as a consequence of fatigue or poor circulation, proper oxygenation cannot take place in the tissues. Without oxygen, the body loses energy and cannot throw off toxins, which is why sick people are always tired.

One of the least understood aspects of nutrition is healing fats and killing fats. The fact is that some fats are absolutely required for health, while others are detrimental. Some fats heal while others kill. Whether fats heal or kill depends on several factors: what kind of fat it is; how it has been treated; is it fresh; has it been exposed to light, oxygen, heat, hydrogen, water, acid, base or metals like copper or iron?

If we get the right kinds of fats in the right amounts and balances, and prepare them using the right methods, they build health and keep us healthy. The wrong kinds of fats, the wrong amounts or balances, or even the right kinds of fats wrongly prepared, cause degenerative diseases that we call diseases of fatty degeneration. Avoid all products containing hydrogenated oils! They are perhaps the deadliest substance allowed in our foods!

Lightbulb one very common symptom of PD

this is the one symptom - we politely do not discuss?

Constipation
What is the Colon?

The colon is the last five to six feet of the digestive tract. It is a hollow, tube-like organ made up of muscle structure that moves digested food along by a wave-like motion known as peristaltic action. In other words, the colon is the body's sewage system. It is the living room for a host of bacteria that produces toxins. It also absorbs water, nutrients, proteins and minerals back into the bloodstream.

The most unimaginable, despised and neglected part of the body, the colon is the cause of widespread degenerative diseases in modern civilization. In the treatment of every chronic disease and acute maladies, the colon must be considered. The average colon in civilized communities is in a desperately deprived and dangerous condition.

According to Dr. John Kellogg, founder of the Battle Creek, Michigan Sanatorium and the Kellogg Breakfast Cereal Company, the colon is richly supplied with nerves and is highly sensitive to influence by all emotion, pleasurable or the opposite. Studies have shown the unpleasant emotions of all sorts can stop peristalsis. Even slight anxiety, annoyance, apprehension or ill-temper may stop all movement of the intestines, as well as the stomach, together with gastric secretions. The angry colon shuts up like a clam and declares "no thoroughfare here!"

Some people are chronically constipated because of a chronic state of ill will or anger. Grief shuts up the outlet of the body's system as tightly as does fear. The worried colon neither secretes nor contracts. Stress from any cause can and will render the colon dysfunctional.

Both secretion and contraction are need for efficient action - secretion for lubrication and contraction for transportation of the food residues to the exit. Loss of sleep, business worries, domestic trials or harassment from any cause may render the colon dysfunctional.

Default Why I am adding this to the forum -burning mouth syndrome

this is from a testimony from a woman named Grace,
I have burning mouth syndrome worse than almost any of my PD symptoms except for dystonia and insanity by way of mirapex!

GRACE

"I am 55 years old. I have had health problems since I was in my early twenties, starting with constipation, which turned into colitis. As the years went by I began to experience many painful symptoms which affected my whole body — swollen glands, dizziness, lack of coordination, extreme burning of the yes and mouth to the point where the skin on the roof of my mouth would peel off. I had extreme indigestion and gas pains in my stomach and chest almost twenty-four hours a day, which kept me awake at night. I had bloating and swelling throughout my whole body. My back was continually out of alignment despite treatments to realign it. My areas of greatest pain were in my legs and feet. As the years went by I began to experience fear, phobias, extreme fatigue and depression. Trips and holidays which once brought great delight were now frightening and filled with anxiety and stress. I knew something was wrong but I was unable to get the help I needed."

"After many tests, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and was told there was nothing they could do for me. I continued to struggle on, hoping a good diet and vitamin supplements would help. But I just got sicker, more fatigued and worse, my mind was getting so confused I thought I would have a complete nervous breakdown. My weight dropped fro 140 lbs to 93 lbs. Finally, a naturopathic doctor suggested colonics and made an appointment with Rosa for the following week."

"I began regular treatments twice a week. The change was slow, but very evident. My mind began to settle and the fears began to subside. The agonising joint pains were beginning to ease, the pain in my legs and feet slowly going away. My back is feeling the best it has in years. My once wrinkly, dry skin is becoming moist and smooth and my complexion is becoming more colourful all the time. My teeth are no longer as sensitive as they were. The burning in my mouth and eyes has disappeared. I can once again walk long distances and actually enjoy going uphill. I look forward to holidays this summer!"

"I thank God for all these wonderful changes that have come about through colon therapy. My husband and I both rejoice over my restored mental and physical health."

"We have come to love and appreciate Rosa, Linna and Vanessa so much. Rosa has always been so helpful and willing to give of herself and I will always be grateful for that. I look forward to each new day and appreciate my health and strength as never before. I can't stop telling people about the amazing benefits of colonic therapy."

GRACE

"I had not been well for a long time. At first, the pain, the stomach swelling, the diarrhoea, the constipation and the nausea just occurred from time to time. Then my symptoms became a constant agony. It was a nightmare with seemingly no escape."

"The western style doctors I saw did not know. Of course, they had their fancy terms, which meant nothing (to me). Some of the comments I heard from them were "this is nothing", "your are going through the change of life", "your are imagining this", I feared the worst, shed many tears, but kept trying."

"To this day, I do not know how I walked into Health Harmony. I knew I needed a different type of treatment. . . . It had to be my spiritual guides leading me to the healing path."

"The treatments were quite an "eye-opener"! But it does work, I have noticed many improvements already. With time and patience I know my total self will be healed."

"Besides the treatment, there is something here that nourishes the heart and the soul. It is the caring. The therapists work with you. They are there to help you every step of the way."

Default True ! but what can we do ?

Tena: I very much appreciate your spreading awareness about toxins in the enviroment and in our own bodies..I know education is the first step.
But the toxins seem to be every where .. in the air we breath and food we eat!
I read some articles on toxins and PD and have been taking Milk Thistle which is supposed to enhannce liver function to get rid of toxins AND take 2 falxseed spoonfuls to ensure that my colon works regular!.
I find it hard even to advise my young son on the matter of toxins .. he tells me he needs to stop living to avoid them !

Dr. Denham Harman & aging

Jule Klotter

When Denham Harman, MD, PhD, first introduced his theory that free radical reactions were responsible for the deterioration associated with aging in 1955, the idea was dismissed as "too simple to explain such a complex process as aging." In a two-part interview with Richard Passwater, Harman explains that US Navy research on free radical damage caused by radiation exposure, prompted his theory that aging results from free radical activity that occurs in the body. As a former researcher at Shell Development Company, and then as a resident in internal medicine and research associate at the Donner Laboratory of Medical Physics (University of California-Berkeley) in 1954, Harman had the background in radiation chemistry and biology to understand that free radical reactions, which result during radiation exposure, naturally occur in the human body, given the cells' constant exposure to oxygen. At that time, evidence of free radical activity in biological systems was scarce; it had just been found in yeast by St. Louis researchers. Dietary antioxidants were known to provide protection against radiation exposure. By 1957, Harman showed that the same compounds extended the median life span of mice undergoing normal aging. Antioxidants did not, however, increase maximum life expectancy--the "biological clock."

In 1972, Harman modified his theory of aging by proposing that free radical damage to the mitochondria determines maximum life span. The maximum life span for humans is 115-120 years. Most oxygen reactions (which produce free radicals) occur in the mitochondria, but the mitochondrial inner membrane is very selective and will not readily admit most antioxidants. However, researchers have identified a few antioxidants that protect mitochondria. Coenzyme Q-10 slows mitochondria deterioration without interfering with ATP production. The antioxidants alpha-lipoic acid and acetyl carnitine can actually reverse mitochondrial aging in young animals.
Controlling energy output is another way to reduce mitochondrial aging.

Free radical damage to mitochondria increases and decreases according to how much we eat and how intensely we exercise. Oxygen consumption increases as food intake and exercise increases. In the Passwater interview, Harman tells about rat experiments in which decreasing caloric intake resulted in "decreased body weight and oxygen consumption by 40%, increased average life expectancy at birth by 40%, and increased maximum life span by 49%.... In essence, by decreasing caloric intake we decrease our exposure to internal radiation."

Harman, who was the subject of a CBS News report in June 2003, at age 87, told Passwater that he takes 200 milligrams of vitamin E per day; ten milligrams of coenzyme Q-10 with each meal; one yeast tablet containing 50 micrograms of selenium twice a day, and a multivitamin. "There are other things involved in living a long life," he says. "These include keeping your weight down at a level compatible with a sense of well-being, getting a moderate amount of exercise, little or no smoking, and minimal alcohol." At the time of the CBS News report, he was still researching aging--without pay--at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 7 am to 3 pm, five days a week. He "officially" retired from his teaching position at age 70. "If you don't stay busy," he says, "you die. I don't want to die right now."

Arrow another great reference on what to do -

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finding The Fountain Of Youth

OMAHA, Neb., June 13, 2003
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(AP) Age is not just a number to Dr. Denham Harman. It's an obsession.

Why else would an 87-year-old man rise at 4:30 each morning, drive to the University of Nebraska Medical Center by 7 and put in an eight-hour day?

"Because I'm busy," Harman said. "If you don't stay busy, you die. I don't want to die right now."

Harman officially retired 17 years ago. He continues to work, unpaid, out of a cubbyhole office that seems beneath a man who is one of the 20th century's most significant researchers in the field of gerontology.

"He deserves the Nobel Prize," said Dr. Donald Ingram, acting chief of the laboratory of experimental gerontology at the National Institute on Aging in Baltimore. "He's been nominated before, but sometimes it takes a long time for a body of work to be fully appreciated. I hope he gets it while he's alive."

In 1954, Harman developed what now is the most widely accepted theory on the aging process, known as the "Free Radical Theory of Aging." In simple terms, the theory says a byproduct of oxygen use is adverse chemical reactions in cells. The result is aging and, ultimately, death.

The theory initially was, Harman said, "pooh-poohed and ridiculed" by the medical community.

By the 1980s, however, free radicals became part of research in cancer, cardiovascular disease and stroke. In recent years, free radicals have been linked to Alzheimer's disease.

Free radicals are atoms with unpaired electrons. The radicals are produced through the body's use of oxygen. According to Harman's theory, radicals damage cells in an organism, causing aging. By reducing free radicals, the aging process is slowed.

Dr. Jane Potter, section chief of Geriatrics and Gerontology in the UNMC College of Medicine, said Harman's theory was ahead of its time.

"There was a long lag between him saying this was important and others doing the research to prove it," Potter said. "The fact he was the original has been lost. There's no disagreement that he said it first. But he has been under-recognized."

Modest by nature, Harman has focused his energies on pressing for research that leads to the enhancement of life for seniors. He is driven by a quote by 18th century satirist Jonathan Swift, who wrote: "Every man desires to live long, but no one would be old."

To Harman, the issue is not increasing life span. He doubts life expectancy ever will exceed 85 years.

"We have reached the point where our living conditions are near optimum," he said. "We can do all the work we want on cancer research and heart disease, but it's not going to increase our life span. A major risk factor with those diseases is aging, and the aging process is built in."

Harman's work now is focused on applying the Free Radical Theory to help the elderly avoid a long period of decline before death.

"I'm talking about functional life span," he said. "You may not play tennis anymore, but you still get around, enjoy music or whatever your hobby is. When that period is over, you just disappear. That would be the ideal."

Slowing the production of free radicals, Harman believes, is key. Excessive smoking, alcohol consumption and a poor diet accelerate free-radical production, he said.

Conversely, not smoking, limiting drinking and maintaining a sensible diet decelerate free-radical production. Harman also urges regular exercise.

"So much of this is common sense," he said.

Harman, married for 60 years and the father of four, has followed his own advice throughout his life. He ran two miles a day until he was 82. He quit because of a back injury, but he continues to take regular walks to help him maintain a weight of 140 pounds on his 5-foot-10 frame. He has never smoked and drinks alcohol in moderation.

He is a big believer in nutritional supplements. Adults, he said, should take vitamins C and E and antioxidants to slow free-radical production.

Though he is a bit hard of hearing, he remains extremely sharp. His back injury has left him hunched over, but he still moves about at a brisk pace. His clean living might have a lot to do with his longevity, but he doesn't dismiss another factor: genes.

Harman's mother died at 80 of an asthmatic attack; his father died at 72 of a stroke.

A few years ago, Harman predicted he would live to 100.

Today, he senses his mortality, largely because of his back injury, which has resulted in calcium deposits in his spine and a ruptured appendix that nearly cost him his life two years ago.

Still, he has no plans to slow down. He continues to write papers, organize symposiums on aging and keep up on correspondence emphasizing the importance of more research.

He doesn't fear death, but he has a unique perspective on living.

"I hope to God I keep going, and one of these days I won't wake up in the morning," he said. "That will be fine."
