Default update

I went to the link and left a message. The person who runs the sight does not seem to be in very good health. I'm not sure how closely it's updated and monitored etc. I guess we'll find out.

The book Parkinson's Disease and the Art of Moving, by John Argue, which I posted about in the thread about exercise, has good advice about what to do when you fall. He tells you the best ways to crawl and scoot when you are on the floor, tells you how to climb back up into a chair when you are down on the floor, and movement strategies for standing up from a chair. He also says to learn to go to the floor on purpose so you will be better prepared when you do fall. "Learn to fall long before you need to learn to fall."

Default re: the floor

I don't have balance issues so I havn't had any negative encounters with the floor. Until this last week I have had my matress on the floor and often sit on the floor when my meds are off. As a matter of fact the floor is my seating of choice, especially if I'm feeling a bit on the shakey side. I've even sat on my Neuro's floor when I've been in for a visit. Sitting cross legged helps to stabalize my shakey legs. My Neuro said to me" most of my patients with PD can hardly get out of the chair!" I don't know why it's different for me. I have less control of my legs when they really get going if I'm sitting in a chair.
