Default Ideas for cheering someone up

Am not having a particularly great day physically. My hands feel as if someone has replaced my usually deft fingers, with great fat sausages.But...not to be daunted...I am making a christmas present for my sister and her husband. He has just come through intense chemo and they both love gardening..so...
I am in the middle of putting togeetehere [see...sausage fingers !]
together...a gardenng ..oh bother...u know what i mean...hamper..with books and bulbs, pots, string, seed labels, treats for coffee break and the like...and i was adding some packets of seeds. But i thought i wouuld design my own little packets and on the back write some inspirational quotes so that the words could bless them whilst they were planting...all about what life really is about [ yeah..it sucks at times i know] and then decant the seeds into my own personalised paackets.
It`s made me feel nice thinking of them out in their garden, reading the words and mulling over them while planting.I have chosen fragrant flowers too for a sensory garden patch for them.
Not a huge thing but someteimes little things make all the difference...and it has kept me so focussed on somethingn usesful today.

Anyone care to add any other ideas with a personal touch.Sure could use some ...christmas coming up and all.

wonderful idea!

i always make food baskets. lots of homemade baked goods and dried fruits.

for mother's day a few years ago i made up a little gardening basket for my next door neighbor. she is our adopted grandma. it was all herbs. i added some recipes to use the herbs.
